Overdosing on emotions was quite common for Ink. Whether it was by accident, sipping too much without realizing it, or a choice that didn’t go as planned, too much of one paint color would lead to unpredictable consequences.
It also led to unpredictable situations.
OR: Five times Ink overdosed on his paints, and how that led to their Multiversal Truce.
(Was written for the Wingedverse, but honestly, wings aren’t that big of a plot point here.)

So to review, a simple mission went terribly wrong. Yipee. Now, they were on a burning boat, halfway across a river, while being shot at. Captain Henry Lee was shouting, and the decision was made to abandon ship. One by one, the men around him were either shot, plunged into the icy water, or both. Alexander’s hand went to where he kept his amulet…he made a snap decision as the bullets flew by his head, diving into the icy water, and pulling it from around his neck, praying no one would see the tail that now replaced his legs. He struggled against the current, being carried downstream with the dead bodies of the men around him. He thought he heard Henry Lee shouting his name, but he was too focused on swimming to listen.

He had no idea why, but that didn't mean that Nightmare wasn't going to let his opportunity to live go to waste.
It was for this reason, fearing for his life he made the harsh decision that would buy him a few more years to live.
Now he was a student at Night Raven College, and he is not ready for what is to come.
