A fragment of my headcanon AU where Steve who has been through a lot has been living with Hopper since the events of season one. He’s been in a toxic relationship with Billy since January 1985, and recently found out he’s six months pregnant with their child.
When Billy gets possessed by the Mindflayer at the beginning of June, it has disastrous consequences for Steve and their unborn child, who the Creature sees as deliciously fragile victims who can be used to force Billy into accepting his control.

The thought surfaced from the murky depths of Darry Curtis’ mind as he slowly blinked his eyes open, warm dirt pressing hard into the back of his skull. Getting one arm braced against the dry grass, he started to push himself up and immediately had to stop when the world spun around him and his vision blurred, almost sending him back to a prone position. His stomach gave a sickening lurch; whether it was from nausea or anxiety, he wasn't sure. He did, however, recognize what he was feeling from his days playing high school football.

The figure was blond, with streaks of black twining through their golden locks, the feathery strands somehow perfectly dry despite the fact the figure was chest deep in the ocean. The figure looked somewhat masculine, with a flat chest and well defined biceps and shoulders, but the face bore an ethereal feminine quality that could not be denied.
Smooth, poreless skin without even a hint of facial hair, small, red lips and elfin facial features left Mackiah confused as to whether he was looking at a man or a woman, and he found himself riveted to the figure's undefinable beauty that couldn't possibly be put into words.
But most incredible of all, staring back at him with an intense sort of scrutiny that made Mackiah's whole body erupt into goosebumps, the figure's eyes were a deep, impossible shade of liquid gold.
"What are you?" Mackiah breathed, spellbound.
Concussed, injured, and maybe a bit hysterical, Mackiah finds a mermaid, and decidedly bites off more than he can chew.

The voice sounded distant and scared as the world slowly came back to him. Confusion hit him hard as he remembered what had happened.
“Channie hyung? Please. Chan, please be okay.”
“‘m okay,” he mumbled through the taste of iron in his mouth. Weakly, he spit out a wad of blood and then sucked in a painful breath as he opened his eyes. They were still in the dingy room and Hyunjin was still zip tied to his chair. His wrists were raw and bleeding and Chan thought that he may have been trying to get to him at one point. “Hurts.”
Hyunjin let out a choked sob as the flashes of those men beating the hell out of Chan hit him again. They were ruthless. “D-don’t move. They hit you so hard. Is anything broken?”
Or: Chan and Hyunjin find themselves kidnapped and trapped in a world of hell after traffickers grab them after a concert.
