In all fairness, Dream was really drunk that night.
Stumbling around on the wooden deck, boots slipping on sea spray, rum sloshing out of a metal tin- yeah, no, he understands why Sapnap says he was hallucinating.
But he's thoroughly convinced there was some truth to what he saw because he doesn't think he's capable of procuring such a sight with just a tank of liquor and his imagination.
or, Dream thinks he's seen a mermaid that proceeds to save his life. They fuck and go on pirate adventures :)

At one end of the anarchist utopia, on a sort of raised platform, Techno was already ensconced on the cobblestone stairs, over which a lantern hung from a tiled beam. He had grown older but was still a majestic-looking piglin, with a wide and benevolent appearance in spite of the fact he never took off the boar-skull mask.

Technoblade inspires the others at Greater SMP to rise above Dream, that they deserve owning their own country instead of being ruled.
They make L'Manberg, and it's goes fine until Schlatt decides to take over from Wilbur and run him out.

Prince Tommy is the heir to L’Manberg, raised under a cruel father who treats him more like a tool than a son. When war breaks out with the Antarctic Kingdom after trade is cut off, Tommy is sent to the front lines with General Dream and Sapnap.
He sees the aftermath of a massacre and refuses to let his army become as brutal as their enemy. That decision leads to a tense meeting with King Philza, Wilbur, and Technoblade, where it’s revealed the Antarctic Kingdom attacked because their people are starving.
When things turn into a standoff, Tommy chooses to surrender himself as a hostage if it means sparing his soldiers. Dream is forced to let him go but promises that he’ll get him back.

Dream ran as he pushed past people, not caring if they fell or stumbled. The brown haired man was shouting to the blonde kid who was too frightened to move. Dream broke through the gasping crowd, who for some reason weren’t rushing to help the kid, cowards. Dream leapt in the air before he could think as he wrapped an arm around his waist and an arm shielding his head.
Noise….Yelling..a name?.....Tires…screeching…honks..more yelling….
A voice. Was that… dad? Oh- nevermind, it’s the brunette man. Just Dream being dramatic and thinking he died. The brunette man was saying something… but what?
Dream couldn’t hear him.
“alright-help….concious ....ambulance!”
At that word Dream snapped his eyes open. No way in hell was he going to a hospital! The bills would make him work his whole life to pay the hospital debt.
“No..” A slurred noise. His own.

It’s not your fault.If only Tommy could believe that. Not all of the Red on his hands is blood, but it barely helps. His life at the SCP Foundation is routine: white walls and bland ‘food’ broken up only by visits with Philza if he’s lucky, doctors and researchers if he isn’t, and The Blade if he’s really, really unlucky. Survival has a cost, but rarely is it one he himself pays, and the guilt of what he's done is almost enough to convince Tommy that the Foundation is right to lock up dangerous anomalies like him.
But then one day a bee appeared in his cell. That’s not to say things got better, but, well, they certainly weren’t so mundane anymore.
