Will tried to swallow down the last of his fear, but his throat felt like sandpaper.
“Take me.”
Those milky eyes fixed on him, and a warped brow lifted, as if asking him to repeat himself.
Even though the cold seeped into him, like he was drifting backwards into a freezer, Will didn’t take the way out.
“Take me,” he repeated, his voice still shaky, but he held Vecna’s gaze. “Take me instead of Holly. I’ll come to you. I won’t fight. Just finish it already.”
Vecna was silent for a long, agonizing moment, but then, a smile curled across his twisted face.
“Deal.”---
Will offers himself to Vecna in exchange for Holly’s safety.

Summary
Roughly a year and a half after Vecna wreaked apocalyptic havoc on Hawkins, Indiana as we know it, Mike Wheeler, Eleven Jane Hopper, and Will Byers struggle to make sense of their complicated relationships with one another as their best friends, Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair, spiral further into grief and depression over their lost loved ones (Eddie and Max).
Meanwhile, Nancy Wheeler continues to struggle with survivor's guilt over the loss of her best friend, Barb, as her boyfriend, Jonathan Byers, and Steve Harrington grow ever more competitive towards each other over her hand in a relationship. She wonders whether there is any way to protect her family while avenging Barb's death.
Finally, Chief Jim Hopper struggles against his desire to keep his daughter, El, safe, knowing that he tends to only hold her back whenever he tries to protect her. Will he overcome the guilt he feels about his daughter's death, or will he allow it to destroy the beautiful family that he is forming with Joyce Byers?
A complete Stranger Things 5 rewrite beginning from episode 1 in which Mike and Will actually DO end up together as they were always supposed to, and Mike and El learn to become friends.

"Jonathan," Will mumbles, and he's taking smaller breaths, shaky and uneven. "I…"
"Shh, don't speak," Jonathan urges. He wraps his overshirt around Will's stomach, tying it so tight that Will makes a strangled whine, his fists clenching. "You're–you're gonna be fine, okay? We're gonna get you to a hospital and, and call Mom, and everything's going to be fine."

“I want to stay,” she says, trying to explain better, even though Joyce hasn’t understood once why she doesn’t want to leave Hawkins. “It’s okay that you want to leave. I understand. But I don’t. And I get to make choices.”

It was then that he understood Will had gone utterly still, his body no longer stirred by any tremor or spasm. He could not tell whether it meant that it was working, or that it was already too late. Still, he had to go on.

The words slid from his tongue with a disarming, almost terrifying ease, and under other circumstances, he might have flinched at their truth, at how utterly unlike that night in the pizzeria they sounded. But there was no room for such thoughts, not while Will was fighting for his life in his arms.
He pressed his forehead to Will’s temple and kept whispering those three words, over and over and over, until they no longer felt like words at all, but the only truth he would be able to speak from that moment on.Or

And one cold night in his basement, when he turned to Will like clockwork, waiting to see the warm hazel shining with determination at their plan - Mike was the first person to notice. He always was.
Will, staring at Nancy as she spoke to the Party, pointing out spots on blueprints and commanding them in her plan -
without a glimpse of something in his eye.
It wasn’t anything too frightening, like when he’d been possessed and the light flecks of green in his irises had melted into a dark black. It was subtle and slight, and Mike was sure only he would’ve been able to notice it, considering how he knew the boy beside him through-and-through.
It wasn’t fear, or anger, or anything violent, just… a lack of recognition.
Or, Will is loosing his memories again, and Mike can’t do anything about it.

Summary
Mike moves them so that Will's leaning his weight onto him, Will's shoulder pressed to Mike's chest, positioning Will half on top of him so he isn't fully on the ground.
"Will? Speak to me what's going on?!"
Being closer to the floor makes it clear to Will what's happening, he's the one shaking. His whole body is convulsing.
"Can you hear me??!"
He can, just barely, but Will can't answer him. His tongue feels heavy in his mouth, like it's been injected with led. It's just a slab of useless wet flesh in his mouth.

Nancy lowered her body, sizing up the space ahead of them. She lowered her arm and reached for her gun. Lucas gripped his crowbar, wringing it over with his hands. Mike just stared, knife forgotten, shoved into the side of his belt.
The shadow moved slowly and hunched slightly forward.
That’s a fucking person.
“Will?” It was a quiet question, private almost, let out with an unsound breath. Mike tasted it like copper in his mouth as each letter sounded out past his gently parted lips.
That’s when Nancy shot. Heat and gunpowder soaked the air, followed by a shrill ringing sound that accompanied the loud bang.

Summary
Watching school spirits as i mourn stranger things and i started to imagine them as a variation or combination of characters from the show and how they would deal with what everyone poor kid was dealing in this heartbreaking show. Not everyone is a one for one character which is important to remember but Will being in Maddie's place made so much sense to me and I'm going to do them as much justice as i can.

A babbling river passes nearby Will’s resting spot, the sound of the water gently singing him to sleep. The grass is caressing his legs, and it’s suddenly as if everything was right in Will Byers’ life. That’s probably the first he’s ever said that. The hours seem to be passing by slowly yet Will feels no remorse, no guilt about letting the time pass. It’s as if this was the well-deserved break he really needed; no more insults, no more fighting, no more watching your back as you walk down the street at night on your own. He feels free, light, like a weight has been taken off him. He takes a breath; the Earth swallows him whole.
