In a way, Pyro can dumb down all that humanity has meant to him into lullabies.
The soft sound of Shelby singing as they skip through the woods, the hum of energy around Abolish, stagnant yet observant, the way Apo used to sing to herself to self-soothe. It's all a way for them to connect to the world, so other and yet so familiar in many, many ways.

Summary
The rest of the world may as well not exist for all he would notice, as Pyro turns at the sound of Aurora and locks eyes with Scott.
He looked... there were dark shadows below his eyes, partially blocked by his tangled hair. Their already lithe frame had crossed the line into worryingly thin. His clothes, usually well maintained (aside from the occasional scorchmark), were ratty and torn, the red color Scott knew they usually held barely visible under the grime, and he looked so, so tired.
Despite all that, he was the most beautiful sight Scott had ever seen.

Pyro (and Maddy) gets rescued while Scott is off curing Aurora of her heat sickness, and they have a very emotional reunion on his return.Series

Summary
He feels a loneliness he hasn't felt before in his life. Pyro thrived alone in a way he couldn't when with by others. When one is surrounded by people, one has to keep down the intensity of their flame unless they want the people around to catch ablaze like a forest fire, or get blinded and take a stumble.
Now, though, absence left him freezing, like standing in a blizzard in wet clothes.
The chains that tied his very being to Cindermeare's pulled at his core, and Pyro could only resist the cold and hope his ancestors gave him strength enough to hold onto his own body.
He thinks of home, of his flame flickering. And he holds tighter onto his body.

Or; Pyro and Maddy get rescued, Pyro can finally ease the cold that had taken hold of them since Cindermeare left.
Or: Pyro got sick because he was away too long but they get better with the help of friendship and all that.
