Summary

Summary
Shane measured out his loosely packed protein powder, using the back of the knife to scrape the excess off the cup back into the container—careful to not add too much. A glint of light reflected off the knife, catching his eye. He stared at the silvery surface, realizing how long it had been since he looked at himself in the mirror.
He punched the button on the blender, letting the harsh, abrasive sound pull him out of his thoughts. The ingredients blended together until they turned into the same, bland, expected color as as it did every morning, perfectly under his control.
He brought it to his lips carefully, trying to ignore the sudden tightness in his chest. When it tasted exactly like it did the day before, he sighed in relief, hungrily drinking it down, feeling completely free. This was going to work.
He was always going to know exactly what he was eating.
OR: Shane Hollander starts his performance diet after Dallas Kent puts something into his drink. With training season starting for his first season in Ottawa, it's more important than ever that he feels in control. How else will he face Troy Barret every day?

“You don’t talk about playing in major juniors,” Ilya said as he took a sip of his smoothie.
Shane froze. “It was average, nothing to really talk about.” That wasn’t really true. Shane had hated major juniors. He had closed the door on those memories for a reason, more than one reason actually. There was no need to rehash the worst three years of his hockey career. That was over, and Shane was fucking fine.

Hockey Canada did a shitty job of protecting a children in major juniors, but especially children of color, and Shane has trauma from that. Ilya might commit crimes over it.

Summary
In which Ilya is the one who gets hurt during the Boston vs Montreal game in 2017 instead of Shane, and this time their relationship gets revealed out there on the ice. This starts a chain of events that leads to Shane being the one to switch teams first.
