They went slow—glacial slow— when He Tian came back, and since then He Tian has given him more and more opportunities to enjoy what other couples got to experience.
This holiday vacation is another one of those opportunities.

It’s a nice kitchen. Nicer than their apartment, and nicer than the kitchen he grew up in with his mom. The oven and stove range, the fridge and freezer, along with the many appliances lining the long counters looked like new, expensive and high quality.
The pot on the stove is already bubbling, and the vegetables on the cutting board are next. He Tian keeps him company, quietly sitting on one of the bar stools across from him at the kitchen island. The normally sharp grey eyes watch him chop carrots in a haze, half lidded and clearly too lost in thought to really track the movement of his hands or the knife.
