“It’ll only be for a weekend.” Jian Yi isn’t exactly begging, but close enough, “Zhan Xixi’s sister is allergic so you’re the next best option.”
He Tian pretends to think about it, but—“I’ll have to ask Mo.”
“Why?” Jian Yi’s eyes narrow, “Because you’re whipped?”
That’s one way to put it, “Yes.”

That’s one way to put it. Not exactly the words that he would have chosen, more likely to say something about how Guan Shan’s consent matters the most in all aspects of their entwined lives—including something as small as this.
But yeah, He Tian is whipped.

It’s a nice kitchen. Nicer than their apartment, and nicer than the kitchen he grew up in with his mom. The oven and stove range, the fridge and freezer, along with the many appliances lining the long counters looked like new, expensive and high quality.
The pot on the stove is already bubbling, and the vegetables on the cutting board are next. He Tian keeps him company, quietly sitting on one of the bar stools across from him at the kitchen island. The normally sharp grey eyes watch him chop carrots in a haze, half lidded and clearly too lost in thought to really track the movement of his hands or the knife.

They went slow—glacial slow— when He Tian came back, and since then He Tian has given him more and more opportunities to enjoy what other couples got to experience.
This holiday vacation is another one of those opportunities.

"You. Will. Not," he jumped off the side of the pier, landing in the sands near the crashing waves. His knees buckled a bit, but he managed to get into a sprint back towards the house. He couldn't see He Tian behind him-- because he's seen enough horror movies to know you never look back-- but he could hear him, the sand kicking up, the powerful and trained strides that closed the distance between them proving he couldn't hope to outrun him.~The boys are in a misunderstanding and we get to watch them come back together.~
