So he lies, with body and words, by performing, and makes sure he doesn't have to use his safety-net. After all, he learned his season with safety-nets; always have one even if they're invisible.
Jason Todd hates liars and depends on his gut to know who is who. When around Dick Grayson his gut yells and screams at him, it warns him that, Dick Grayson is a liar. When he finial gets a lead after so many years he follows it to learn about the real Dick Grayson not the liar. For he has always hated a liar and it surely wasn't because he cared or anything for the younger ones. Nope, not all, it was to expose Dick Grayson.
