Summary
“You know what, old man? Let’s call it what the fuck it is,” Shane said, growing louder. “Because when I signed with this team, ya know, when you were six years into your sad career already, you guys never had even dreamed of a fucking cup. You’re welcome, by the way, I got you four.”
“Wow, real humble Hollzy,” Stedlund scoffed.
“You’re gonna tell me I’m wrong?” Shane asked, indignantly. “That’s fine. You all better really enjoy your days with the cup because you’ll never fucking touch it again. I don’t really think I can say the same.”

Summary
“You are so pretty, baby,” Ilya’s voice dragged across his skin, “So young. Too young for me. Hm?”
Shane thought he may never have been so turned on in his life.
“No,” he shook his head frantically, “No I’m not.”
“But you can’t even tell how much I want you,” he nearly pouted, taking a step closer to Shane, who thought his legs might be turning into jelly, “Makes me feel a little dirty, like I’m taking advantage.”
“You’re not- You wouldn’t be.”
“I don’t know,” he tilted his head to the side, moving even closer to him, so that their chests were nearly pressed together, “I don’t know, is not a good look, me chasing after someone like you.”
“I want you to,” the words spilled out of his mouth, “I want you to chase me.”
Or, Shane is home from college for the summer, and has a thing for the man that lives across the street. Turns out, that man has a thing for him right back.

Summary
Life feels so chaotic for Shane sometimes, with all the loud noises and the unwritten rules he’s expected to follow, even though no one ever taught them to him. It’s why the bookstore feels more like home to him than anywhere else in Boston. It doesn’t ask Shane to be anything other than himself. Doesn’t ask for any more than he can give.
He can just exist here.
Shane likes slow, likes taking his time. And Ilya - without saying or doing anything in particular - makes Shane feel like that’s okay. Like he isn’t doing anything wrong by standing still sometimes.
(Or, Shane works in a bookstore, Ilya plays hockey, and they both go to the same college. They fall in love in every universe.)

Summary
“I was,” Ilya waves at the clothes, flushing pink. “Cutting tags.”
It’s Shane’s turn to blink at him. “Tags?”
“Yes,” Ilya says, rubbing his nose. God, it’s unfair how good he looks—wearing Shane’s old hoodie, curls flopping over his forehead and blushing pink. “Did not think you would come back so early. I was going to finish and put them all back before you noticed.”
Shane stares at him. “Why?” he asks, soft.
“You don’t like them,” Ilya shrugs, like it’s simple.
Ilya’s cutting off the tags from his clothes because Shane doesn’t like them. Ilya, who in all the years Shane has known him, has never once seemed bothered by them.
“Yesterday,” Ilya explains, reaching over the bed and dropping the scissors on the bedside table, next to a pile of cut off tags. So many of them. “You were pulling at collar. Like this,” Ilya tugs at the collar of his own shirt, mirroring what Shane did for probably a millisecond yesterday.
“You saw that?” Shane asks, awestruck. Fucking hell.

Summary
“So. That’s it? Those are the rules?” Hayden asked. “Don’t go through your texts or photos, keep up with your workouts and diet, and listen to everything Yuna says, without question.”
Shane seemed to be thinking about it, pausing a second. All of a sudden, he looked up at Hayden, again with that intense anxiety face.
“And most importantly, do not talk to Ilya Rozanov. Ever. No matter what.” Shane said, “Avoid him. Don’t even look at him. OK?”
Hayden nodded, and resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Like he even needed to be told that. Besides, Shane had been avoiding Ilya Rozanov for his entire career. How hard could it be?
OR a well-meaning witch bodyswaps Shane and Hayden (to teach them about the power of friendship) the day before the 2017 All Stars Game.
