Summary
Following the events of CA:TWS, the Winter Soldier finds Hawkeye. Clint is still haunted by his own experiences with having his control stripped away, but together they find a way to heal.
Excerpt:
“How did you even … how are you tracking me?” Clint tries.
The question seems to confuse Barnes even further. He looks at Clint, and then somewhere behind Clint’s shoulder, and then back to Clint’s eyes.
“I don’t know,” Barnes says again.
“Listen,” Clint says, taking a step forward, and Barnes flinches back instinctively, stumbling for a moment.
“Whoa,” Clint says. Before he knows it he’s sheathing the knife and grabbing Barnes’ arm, steadying him. Barnes blinks rapidly a few times, wobbling a bit before he seems to find his balance again. His slate-blue gaze, so intent a moment ago, seems a little unfocused.
“When’s the last time you ate? Drank something? Slept?”
“I don’t know,” Barnes says, Clint mouthing the lines along with him.
Christ, Nat is going to kill him when she finds out about this, but there’s nothing else Clint can do.
“Well, c’mon in the house. We’ll get this figured out.”

“What the fuck?” Steve blurts. Again. He's starting to lose count of how often it's been. “Who do you even think you are, you fucking weirdo?”
The guy cocks his head in confusion, but only for a second. Then, that infuriating grin slips back on. He's handsome, in a dangerous and rugged way, with his wild hair and bruised lip.
“Apologies, he rumbles. “Where are my manners?”
And then, without getting up off the ground, he reaches out and takes Steve’s hand in his. Steve watches, heart in his throat and eyes wide with confusion, how the guy bends into a dramatic bow and reverently kisses his own blood off his raw knuckles.
“The name is Edward. King Edward of the Woodland Mountains. Also oh-so-aptly known as Edward the Banished, though my friends just call me Eddie. And you, my dear …”
He looks up, all glinting eyes under dark lashes and Steve needs to swallow against the lump clogging his throat.
“You're going to be the one who saves me.”

Summary

The dog sighs. It’s loud enough that Eddie looks down at the dog instead. It lets it’s tongue flop out of it’s mouth; it looks like it’s grinning.

Eddie frowned and his head swivelled around when he heard the shout. Whoever that was, they didn’t sound happy.
He took a drag of his cigarette, before dropping it to the ground, scrubbing it with his foot, and started to move. Leaving behind the building’s shadow as he made his way further out into the parking lot, shifting between the parked cars of the Hideout as he followed the sound of angry voices.
He paused as he came around the side of a car, his surprise at the scene in front of him making him freeze, Steve Harrington was possibly the last person he expected to see in the Hideout’s parking lot at 11pm.

Here’s the thing.
From the minute he learned about soulmates as a kid, Steve knew not only that he wanted one—of course he did—but that he was absolutely going to get one. Didn’t matter that they were rare as hell, didn’t matter that every year fewer matches were reported: nope. Steve Harrington had a soulmate, and he was going to find them.
When he eventually found out the tragedy of it all, the reason people were celebrating fewer instances of soulmates finding one another, Steve’s feelings on the matter didn’t change. At all.
The words that appear to signal your match being the last words they’re meant to speak, before they die?

Or: Steve Harrington does think it’s a little weird as a phrase, generally, when his soulmark shows up: make him pay.
Not that it matters: Steve’s not buying into the whole ‘last words’ bullshit. Whoever his soulmate is, wherever they find themselves: Steve will save them.
Simple, really. Kinda weird that everyone’s always so doom-and-gloom about it, when even Steve can figure it out.

Steve wouldn’t consider himself lonely. Sure, the kids had all gone their separate ways to college and sure, Robin was also long gone in Massachusetts, but he wasn’t lonely. Just…alone. In Hawkins. Which was fine. It meant he got to do things like meet Wayne Munson in the baking aisle on a Friday afternoon and get a kind-of-old second-best friend. Steve wasn't complaining, not even when Wayne kept bringing up his nephew...like a lot. He kind of sounded cool...
Or Steve becomes good friends with Wayne Munson who is more than happy to introduce him to his nephew Eddie.

Steve glances up, but Munson doesn’t give him much more than a flat glare. He grins with teeth, slouches a little, and his worn leather jacket opens up over a faded tee that Steve can’t quite see the graphic on.
“Buckley,” he says, and then nudges her plate like a heathen. “Got a full moon appetite I see.”
Robin sucks in a breath, eyes narrowed. “Oh wow,” she says. “Shouldn’t you be worrying about your third stint at senior year, Munson?”
Munson’s got an expressive face; he looks very briefly like he’s been slapped, then says, reluctantly, “Yeah, I guess so,” and slinks away.
