    Summary

    “Richard John Grayson,” it says.

Dick has to fight back the flinch. Jason stares wide-eyed at him.

    “Jason Peter Todd.”

    Silence.

“The ones who defined what Batman became.”

Jason mouths something at him, but Dick doesn't catch it. His attention is still stuck on the voice.

“Who the fuck are you?” Jason finally snaps after a brief silence, clearly feeling just as impatient as Dick is. “And how the fuck do you know us?”

“Only one can remain,” the voice says instead, completely ignoring Jason. Can’t answer or won’t answer, Dick doesn't know.

Dick and Jason wake up in an unknown place.

    Summary

He straightens his legs, adjusts his grip, and lets the bar swing him back to the platform. Only when his feet touch it, he swings forward again.

And misses his footing when the bar swings back toward the platform.

Jason yelps as he loses his balance, arms flailing around to regain control of his body before ultimately falling off the platform.

    “JASON!”

Jason has never heard Dick sound like that before. He sounds… kinda panicked. Scared maybe? But that's what nets are for, right? To catch people when they fall. Why is Dick reacting like that, he doesn't know.

A small oof escapes him as his back hits the net. Jason stares up at the ceiling with wide eyes, his chest heaving from the rush of it all.

Well, he's never fallen off the trapeze before until now.

“Holy shit,” he whispers to himself with a breathless laugh. “Holy shit!”

Jason struggles to push himself on his elbows, but eventually manages it, and looks up to where Dick is kneeling on the platform, both hands locked around the edge for some reason.

    Huh.

    Jason falls, and Dick panics.

    Summary

“Y’know,” Jason starts as he stuffs the bills in his jacket pocket, kicking the body again just for the fun of it. “You said you were here for a check in,” he points out, turning to look at Dick. “But you haven't even asked a single question.”

The vigilante shifts his weight from one foot to another, chewing on his bottom lip.

“I don't know what I’m supposed to do here, Jason.”

    “You never did.”

“That’s not fair,” Dick snaps. “I’m trying. I don’t know what else you want from me— I fucked up when we were younger, yeah, but I’m trying now.”

“But I don't need you now,” Jason retorts back, crossing his arms. “The kid you didn't care enough about did.”

“I was barely an adult, Jay.”

Jason laughs, sharp and bitter. “And I was just a kid who needed his brother.”

There’s a difference between never being brothers, and being brothers who don't know how to be anymore.

    Summary

    He fucking hates this.

    Hates the gaps.

Hates the static buzzing behind his eyes like a faulty radio signal.

Hates that sometimes his memories feel less like memories and more like stories someone forced into his skull until he stopped being able to tell the difference.

Hates that sometimes he loses hours and sometimes he loses seconds and somehow the seconds feel worse because at least with hours there's enough missing space to pretend it never happened.

Hates that he is standing on Dick Grayson’s fire escape in sleep shorts at who knows what time while his chest feels too tight for his lungs and his brain keeps pulling in opposite directions hard enough to make him nauseous.

Jason’s mind can’t seem to understand what it needs.

    Summary

Jeno may have many hyungs in NCT but unlike Doyoung or Jaehyun, Mark’s been the one who grew up with him, who debuted with him when they were barely teenagers. He’d been the one to advise him when the leader role was thrust upon Jeno when Mark graduated. He’d been the first person to approach him when Jeno was too shy to make friends. He’d been the one to always make sure Jeno wasn't overworking himself to the bone when he had multiple schedules overlapping.

And now… he doesn't have his hyung there to guide him whenever things get rough between the group and company. There's no one to coddle him, to tell him he’s doing well when he starts doubting himself. No one to quietly shoulder the responsibility when things get too heavy to escape. No one to notice the small things the way Mark always did.

A part of him wonders if, had he noticed the signs earlier, maybe he could have said something— maybe he could have convinced Mark to stay a little longer.

But another part of him knows he would hate himself for it. Because what kind of person asks someone they love to keep suffering just so things can stay the same?

    Jeno learns about Mark’s decision.

    Summary

The bird is small, a pathetic smudge of orange-red and brown against the pristine, manicured grey of the driveway. It isn't mangled. There are no stray cats in the Manor’s inner circle, and the hawks don’t leave their kill behind. It looks like it simply reached the edge of the sky and ran out of permission to fly.

As he continues to stare at the unmoving chest of the bird, he feels less like himself and more like the eight-year-old boy in the trailer, clutching his mother’s hand as she whispers about the Dead Drop.

If the bird hits the floor, the ground is already rising to meet you.

The telegram had been delivered. And Dick Grayson is the only one who knew how to read the handwriting of the dead.

    Summary

But Mark hasn't talked to anyone about his decision, and he doesn't know who else to go to— Taeyong and Johnny are busy with their schedules, Yuta is in Japan, Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo are in the military, and he doesn't want to dump his shit on the other kids, who might get emotional about it and… he doesn't want that. He doesn't want them to cry about his departure— it’ll make him feel guilty and he’ll most definitely have second thoughts about leaving.

But he wants to. He wants to experience life outside of being an idol. He wants to experience the freedom that he couldn't during his youth. He wants to experience love outside the cage, and maybe have kids one day. He just wants… to be normal.

Mark talks to Jaemin about his decision.

    Summary

“Maybe I’m here to finish the job,” he starts, gesturing vaguely at Dick’s direction with his cigarette pinched between his fingers. “Maybe I’m here to see if you’d call him and tell him how your ‘little brother’ nearly took your head off tonight. Maybe both. Who knows?”

“If you're not here for anything,” Dick says, voice low with a hint of exhaustion, eyes fluttering shut again, “I suggest you leave instead. We both know you’re not here because you’re guilty for what you did and I’m tired of fighting you. Leave— or stay, for all I care— but I’m going to bed.”

Jason scoffs, sounding almost offended. But Dick doesn't care— Jason doesn't want anything to do with them anymore, doesn't see them as family anymore, so why should he bother about the man?

Yes, Jason is his brother and will always be, but this time, he’s just tired of pretending that they’re family. Families go two ways— it's not a one-way thing.

Dick is tired of Jason's bullshit.

    Summary

    “Jason’s been… de-aged.”

There's a long, thick moment of silence.

Dick’s brain does not— will not— process the word.

He stares at the phone like it’s just said something in a language he doesn't speak.

    De-aged.

The word sits there, heavy and wrong, refusing to connect to anything meaningful. His brain skids around it, searching for context, logic, a punchline— anything that makes sense.

    It doesn't find one.

“...What?” He finally says, his voice flat despite how hard his pulse has started to thud in his ears.

    Bruce doesn't answer right away.

Jason gets turned into a toddler and it's up to Dick to take care of him.

    Summary

    His parents should have moved.

They should have twisted in the air, shifted their weight, caught themselves. Dick has seen them survive worse falls in rehearsal, laughing as they landed in impossible ways. He’s seen bruises fade in minutes. Bones knit themselves back together between breaths.

    But they don’t.

Instead, his mother’s hand spasms mid-reach, fingers locking unnaturally. His father’s body jerks, like he’s hit with something invisible— like the air itself has turned solid around him.

    Foxfire should have bloomed.

    It doesn't.

A curse, Dick would later learn, woven into the air itself— one that starved their fire before it could even bloom.

No flash of gold. No tails. No magic rushing in to undo the damage. Just the sound— too loud, too final— of bodies breaking the same way human bodies break.

Dick’s story retold as a kitsune.

    Summary

There’s a faint hum in the air. Not a sound exactly— more like pressure. Magic resting low and quiet, the way heat does before a storm.

This happens every month, for a week.

And Wally will never get used to how meticulous Dick is with the items— clothes, especially— he keeps.

Wally leans against the doorframe, arms crossed loosely. No rush. No announcement. He’s learned better than to break moments like this.

Dick reaches for another item from the pile beside him. This one’s older. Worn soft. Wally recognises it, belonging to someone who isn't here anymore. His husband hesitates, then places it closer to the pillow, adjusting it until it sits just right.

Only then does one of his ears flick into existence.

    Just for a second.

Vignettes of Wally’s life with Dick, a kitsune.

    Summary

By the end of the week, the ring remains unproposed, and Wally is one mild inconvenience away from screaming.

He has nearly proposed to the skyline, a half-empty cereal box, the bed, Donna, and possibly Bruce via comms.

    Timing is a joke.

A bad one. A really, really cruel one.

    And Wally is not laughing.

But whatever. Iris told him not to overthink a plan and just go with the flow. It’s much easier that way. Give up control and let time decide for itself.

So Wally hides the ring, hoping Dick will never find it and just… doesn't think about it.

Wally finally proposes to the love of his life— except… it didn't go as planned.

He glances at Dick, hopeful. “Which one?”

Dick looks down at the rings, the gold one specifically.

    “That one,” Dick says.

It’s simple. It’ll suit both of them.

    Wally’s face lights up. “Yeah?”

Dick is in love with Wally.

    Summary

“Because,” Dick says simply— softly— “you’re my brother.”

Jason’s jaw clenches so hard he hears something crack— maybe a tooth. Maybe his patience.

“Oh, go fuck yourself,” he mutters, turning away, pacing a few steps just to get the hell out of Dick’s line of sight. The dumpster. The blood. The reek of Gotham rotting around them— all of it is easier to face than him.

    But Dick still doesn't move.

“I’m not—” Jason starts, waving a hand angrily at himself as he whirls around, facing Dick again. “—your brother. I’m not Tim, I’m not Cass.”

The words come out like claws. Like he’s ripping them out of his own chest one by one so Dick can see the mess underneath.

“I don't— I don't exist in that family,” Jason says, voice shaking slightly. “No one’s thinking about me. They’re thinking about the dead Robin. The dead son. That’s who they miss. Who they prefer.”

    He laughs, sharp and empty.

“Not me. Not some fucked up version of the one they missed. I’m not… I’m not anyone to them. To you.”

Jason doesn't believe in second chances.

    Summary

Wally looks at him like he’s looking at a sunrise.

Because that’s what Dick is— warm. Steady. Bright.

A painful kind of gorgeousness that steals the breath right out of his chest.

    He’s beautiful when he fights.

    He’s beautiful when he laughs.

He’s beautiful when he hurts, too, though Wally wishes he wasn't— wishes he didn’t have to see Dick fold in on himself like he doesn't deserve care.

And he’s beautiful now— right now— underneath Wally, flushed, pupils blown wide, chest rising in these tiny, shaky breaths that make Wally’s mouth go dry.

Wally takes his time worshipping Dick.

    Summary

    He should call someone.

Babs, maybe. Or Wally. Or even Alfred— God, Alfred would know what to say. Maybe even Bruce himself. Just— just someone.

But he doesn't. Something’s telling him that he shouldn't.

It’s late anyway. No one’s awake. At least, that’s what he tells himself. He just needs to sleep it off and he’ll go back to normal. Whatever normal is.

    Except sleep doesn't come.

He lies down eventually, staring up at the ceiling. The mask still clings to his face. He tells himself he’ll take it off after five minutes. Then ten. Then an hour.

He lies awake long enough to watch dawn leak through the blinds, turning the apartment from grey to gold. When his alarm goes off two hours later, he’s still in costume. His muscles ache as if he’s run a marathon.

Dick isn’t okay, even if he tells himself that he is. Jason and Bruce are there to help.

    Summary

He was good. He was good, yeah. Jason believed it— or at least wanted to, even if Bruce never would. But he believed that he was doing something right. He believed he was something more. That he mattered.

    Like a son.

Only to find out that Bruce had only ever seen him as another child soldier in a war he didn't realise he was fighting. He didn't matter to Bruce— not in the way he thought he did.

The glass case that displayed the suit he died in stares back at him, the plaque glinting faintly under the dim lights. Unmoving. Uncaring.

It isn’t a tribute. It’s a coffin of glass and guilt, holding the boy he used to be, a body Bruce couldn't let go of.

It’s one of the reasons why Jason despised coming here— to the Cave, the Manor. Because he knows it’ll just be waiting for him, mocking him in ways no one else can.

Yeah, it's been years. But it never got better.

    Never will.

Jason never liked the glass case. It isn't a tribute. It’s a coffin for someone who will never return— even if he’s standing right there.

    Summary

It’s risky, he knows— but the need to hear Kon, to cum to him, is making any rational decision fade away.

Tim fumbles with the comms, heart hammering in his chest as he sets to Kon’s frequency before sticking it into his ear, and activates the line while covering his fingers in lube.

“Kon?” He calls out tentatively, almost pleading.

“Tim?” Kon’s calm, steady voice responds almost immediately, though there’s an undertone of concern. “You okay? Still on patrol, baby?”

“No, it ended early,” Tim murmurs back, his hand sliding lower till his slicked fingers nudged his hole, pressing them in slowly, teasingly, as Kon would do. “Just wanted to check up on you.”

“Yeah?” Even miles away, Tim could imagine the smirk on Kon’s face. “Missed me?”

    Or

Tim is needy. And desperate times call for desperate measures.

    Summary

“A fever? He’s not— he’ll be okay, then?”

“Just a fever, sir,” Alfred confirms patiently.

Bruce swallows, still staring at Dick like the boy might vanish in his arms if he looks away. “Just… a fever,” he repeats, mostly to himself, like the concept is foreign.

Technically speaking, taking care of a sick child is a foreign concept to him. He’s also only twenty-two with an eight year old under his care for a few months now— everything is new to him. You can’t blame him.

“Do we need a hospital?” Bruce blurts, voice dropping into something dangerously close to panic, eyes snapping up to Alfred. “We need a hospital. What if it gets worse? What if he stops breathing? Should I call in Leslie? Or maybe Clark—”

“Master Bruce,” Alfred cuts in again, stopping him with a polite, raised hand. “This is not a League-level emergency. It is a child with an oncoming fever.”

    Or

Dick falls sick and new parent/guardian Bruce panics.
