It takes a considerable amount of control to not tell Denvik to shove his generosity out a kriffing airlock. “Generous,” he repeats instead, his flat voice the only allowance he can afford to show his feelings on the matter. “How is whoring me out to the Inquisitors being generous?”
“I thought you might appreciate the opportunity.”
“To knock up an Inquisitor?” Bode echoes Denvik’s latest assignment for him with the driest tone he can inject into those ridiculous words.

Bode’s brows lift. “Oh.” He stares at Cal for a moment, and then his lips purse together to try and contain the grin that’s creeping up for all of five seconds before he cracks, amusement plain on his face. “Cal, are you asking me for advice on how to kriff your girl?”
Cal closes his eyes and scrubs a hand over his flushed face. “Yes,” he says, humiliation humming in his blood. “I am.”

Summary
Bode Akuna works alone. Leaving his own pup in the hands of the same Empire that slaughtered her mother because he isn't strong enough to protect their baby girl without offering up his own neck in submission.
