Summary
The room moves around him, nurses in and out to check on his progress and remove his IV. A new doctor comes in with discharge papers, instructions about PT that Hollander studiously writes down. Ilya lets himself be moved and nods when it seems appropriate. But he hears none of it. The blood rushes through his ears and one word echoes in his chest over and over again. Husband.
In 2025, Ilya suffers a hit on the ice and wakes up in the hospital. Shane Hollander is there, holding his hand. But the last thing Ilya remembers is a tuna melt (aaaaaaand Rose Landry).

Summary
Ilya steps forward, crowding Shane against the wall. The heat between them has grown almost unbearable.
He lowers his head to whisper in Shane’s ear.
“Go ahead, Hollander. Meet all the new people you want. Take them out, take them home, whatever.”
He can feel the shakiness in Shane’s breathing on his own face. Ilya leans in.
His words ghost against Shane’s lips, an awful mockery of a kiss.
“They’re never going to fuck you like I did.”
Suddenly, he is violently shoved away.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Or,
Shane and Ilya are hooking up, and deeply in love with each other. It’s a shame they’ve never said it out loud.
Until Shane ends things, and Ilya just can’t let it go.

Summary
Shane flushes and his eyes sharpen, just as Ilya had hoped they would. Shane finally turns around, and Ilya doesn’t bother to hide the way his smile widens. He leans over Shane, boxing him back into the dresser.
He leans in to rub his nose against Shane’s cheek, inhaling his cologne - clean, sharp notes of citrus and spice. Shane reaches up and puts a hand in Ilya’s hair, tugging sharply to pull him back so Shane can look him in the eye.
“If anyone looks at you tonight,” Shane says flatly, “I’ll kill them.”
Ilya makes a dreamy hum, and wraps his arms around Shane’s waist, nosing into his neck. He always wants to be touching Shane, wants to eat him up sometimes. “Okay.”
