Amber eyes hooded beneath the shade watching as long fingers trace a litany over the ink-black bag, tied with a piece of bone that had been dug out of trident teeth months ago.
A flick of fingers, knives glint like a smile in the sun, and Sanji’s teeth are jagged edges that grow to meet them.

Sanji opened his mouth and closed it.
“You were speaking different languages. Last night but also back on the rock.” Zeff spoke gently, Sanji didn’t know what his expression was, he couldn’t look at him yet. “I only knew one or two of them myself, but anyone can tell when someone is asking for help no matter what language they speak.”
Sanji closed his eyes.
“I-I don’t know.” He kept his hands in his hair. “I don’t know how many languages I know. I just know them. I can’t explain why.”
