Summary
On the ninth harvest of the peach tree, Taigen sees a ghost.
Two stingrays disturb the still of the inlet.
The ghost kneels in the firelight, back bent, head inclined in a display of deep respect for the old smith. Taigen drops all the timbers in his arms. The commotion causes the ghost to snap its head up and Taigen feels like throwing up. The blue is too much, too much. He trips over himself scrambling away for refuge.
River water hits his face, yet his skin won’t register the wetness, won’t register anything. Too many feelings swirl within him to the point they all feel like nothing. He scrubs at his face until freshwater could hide saltwater, and red nose and eyes could be excused as from friction alone.
or: Taigen waited, and waited, and waited. Like the sweet fruit after the harsh winter, it was worth the wait.

Tav and Wyll have been getting awfully close lately - a bit too close for a certain vampire's liking, despite the purely platonic bond between the two tadpole-addled individuals. One evening while Tav disappears on one of her infamous walks, with the help (and blessing) of Karlach, Astarion manages to track her down, and show the elven sorceress that there's much more to him than sex, deceit and effective killing.
There's so much the two have to learn about each other, perhaps another night alone, without the interference of tieflings and angry druids, would do the trick.
And it would give Karlach and Shadowheart more to gossip about...

He enjoys taking down large prey. It's such a rush going toe-to-toe with a predator and coming out the victor. Today, in the late afternoon light, a massive mountain puma becomes his latest meal and he relishes every thirsty pull, her power coursing through him and twining round his muscles.
Unfortunately, it's not until he's drained her near dry that he feels a dark coil in his gut and realizes his mistake. This particular puma is - was - in heat. Very, very much in heat. And that's a problem.
