All day, the devil has been dragging his feet, his gaze lowered to the ground, as if tilting his head upwards required too much effort. Every time Aki asked him to pick up the pace, he was met with a heavy sigh and, if possible, an even more emphasized dragging of feet.
“Would it kill you to do your job?”

Summary
Something changes between Angel and Aki at a certain point, and Angel’s not sure what to make of it. Ever since Aki saved his life, there’s a charged energy between them, manifesting in lingering looks and secret smiles.
Angel’s with him now while Aki takes a smoke break on his apartment balcony. They’ve been hunting devils since before sunrise, and Angel wishes he could just curl up and take a nap, but they’ll have to go back to work soon. He leans against the railing and looks up at the sky. Gray storm clouds are slowly creeping their way to this part of the city, and Angel can already smell the rain.
“I don’t want to go back to work,” Angel complains with a sigh.
“Let’s take a longer break today,” Aki says.

Aki's entire life is founded in his belief that all devils are the same, in contrast to the seasons, nobody ever changed. “And I haven’t proven you wrong,” Angel admits.
“Do you even want to prove me wrong?” Aki scoffs. Angel's eyes widen slightly, like he’d been caught doing something forbidden. The air suddenly stills.
“Would it be so hopeless?” The devil finally asks, and it sounds so genuine, Aki can’t help but consider his words. To ask a man to change his values, and a devil to change his nature.
“It might be."
—The story about how the Angel Devil and Aki Hayakawa slowly and helplessly fall for each other. This is my version of all their moments that were ‘not included’ in the manga.

“The Gun Devil,” Angel returns warily, unsure of what the normal response is here. Does he beg for his life? Would that even do anything?
The Gun Devil’s expression shutters. “Sorry,” he says. The gun drops down.
The Gun Devil has taken an interest in Angel.

The first class of the day is a boring one, a gen-ed that Aki should’ve gotten out of the way three years ago but had resolutely forgotten about until his advisor reminded him about it. It’s one of those big lectures filled that Aki could probably skip. The professor doesn’t know a single person’s name. And that’s exactly what Aki had been planning on doing, until he saw Angel.
Aki sits next to a pretty boy in class and brings him hot chocolate when he's sick.

Angel presses on. "Do you want to die?"
Of course he wants to die.
He wants to die just as much as he wants to live. Just as he is now devil and human, just as Angel is both beautiful and monstrous. Aki swallows the smoke and it kills him a little, just as it makes life a little more liveable in return. That's how it's been for most of his life.
"That's not what this is about," he says simply, unable to explain it.
Alive, Aki has survived by selling away his heart. Alive, Angel's memories have come back along with guilt. They find solace and understanding in the only person who sees them for what they are.
