Vasily Pavlichenko was a true follower and a loyalist of Alexander the Liberator’s ideals, until his lamentable assassination. Vasily Pavlichenko expressed his utmost concern and love for his fatherland, practiced its most holy religion and abided by its civil laws.

Vasya, still a young boy who only ever grew in height, was sent away from his home to be made a man. Vasya followed orders and was taught that being loyal, according to every authority figure he faced, meant turning your brain off and listening. Vasya developed apathy and learned how to store emotions for them to burst out on a later date. Vasya felt nauseous while praying.
Vasily hid from himself and the others.

Summary
All of the lieutenant's dogs are trained in similar fashion—tempted, rewarded, and then put in their place, rinse and repeat. A stray like Ogata Hyakunosuke, however, needs a firmer touch, a more appealing treat. Cats won't settle for less, and that much, Tsurumi has learned.

Summary
He doesn’t remember when it started, or, more importantly, why. But these visits have become frequent enough for this to turn into a ritual of sorts for the two. About once a week, Ogata enters his office. Tsurumi calls him to his side, Ogata gets down on the floor and lays his head on Tsurumi’s lap, the latter plays with his hair, pets him, praises him for his good work, uses his first name affectionately… Ogata hardly utters a word, and Tsurumi doesn’t force him to talk either. Occasionally, Ogata lets out soft breaths, akin to a cat purring under its owner’s touch.
Except, he doesn’t belong to Tsurumi. Not really. He’s a stray, and strays like him don’t belong anywhere, much less to anyone.
