Summary
Ryland Grace has what he would humbly call an above-average understanding of how space works. One would hope after all these years, right? But he's forced to stare in confusion at the moon that launched itself into the 40 Eridani system only 4 days prior, completely disregarding the star's gravitational pull, circling as if orbiting a planet that didn't exist.
Until the intercom system crackled to life.
"RADIO TRANSMISSION DETECTED. WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONNECT?"
aka AT-5 went on a joyride and dropped Simon right into Grace's new backyard.

He then realized, in the collision, he had spilled his coffee all over this stranger. Oh no.“Gah-what the fuck, man?!” the stranger exclaimed in a deep, gravelly tone.
“Oh my gosh oh my gosh I’m so sorry-” Grace stepped back, barely keeping his balance, then started digging in his bag. “I-I think i have napkins o-or something.” As he pulled the napkins out and pressed them to the stranger’s chest, he noticed the guy’s lanyard.

As the too get closer, maybe their differences aren't as pronounced as they'd thought...

If Jedediah’s glare could set fires, the General Store would be up in flames right about now, along with the few citizens of the Wild West who had been daring enough to go over and try to speak with the silently fuming cowboy.
Nobody knew what had their leader in such a state. Most days Jed was in a fairly good mood, and even when fights broke out between the Americans and the Romans - or, hell, if the Mayans managed to join in - Jedediah was all bright smiles and high energy, raring to take on anyone who came his way. He loved the fun of the fight more than whatever outcome it gave. But clearly something had the cowboy looking like somebody pissed in his whiskey...not that he was about to tell anyone else what that something was.
(In which Octavius is trying to mend fences on multiple fronts, Jedediah gets jealous, and a big misunderstanding leads to better things.)
