“About what you did today,” he sees her tense once again, “I usually would not allow such things to happen in my presence, however,” Jinshi pauses again when the apothecary looks up to him, “I must say that I admired your actions today. I don't think that any other person would have done as you had, even if it was to save Lady Lihua’s life. I thank you greatly.” He finally looks at her to make eye contact and feels his lips turn up at the corners.
The apothecary can only stare at him as she talks, never breaking stride, “No need to thank me. I am only following my orders.” She stops walking and raises her arms in front of her as she bows, “I must retire to my room now, goodnight, Master Jinshi.”
Jinshi watches her as she retreats and a quiet goodnight passes his lips.

Meanwhile, Jinshi can't believe just how close he'd come to losing her. Nor can he believe how little she seems to think of the whole affair.

Maomao watches him for a long moment.
Then—without a word—she stands up, walks over, and… just kind of… hovers.
Arms awkwardly half-lifted. One foot planted weirdly. Shoulders tense like she’s expecting to be struck by lightning for trying this.
Jinshi finally glances up.
“…What are you doing?”

Sokka snorts and takes the small kick to his stomach like a champ. “Not bad looking? That’s all you’ve got?”
“You’re hot.” Zuko sits back and pulls his feet onto the couch, focusing back on his movie “Maybe they’re just not the right people. Try expanding your choices from the gym and that stupid app-”
“It’s the number one dating app in the nation!”
“Someone will stick around to the end,” he says it like a promise, but Sokka can’t find his eyes in the dim light of their living room. “In the meantime, you need to shower. You smell like alcohol and desperation.”
“I hate you.”
“No you don’t.”
And Sokka doesn’t, of course.
Or: Sokka has had a lot of dates but they never stick around and he doesn’t know why. Literally everyone else knows why.

"What? Yeah. Of course, I am. Why wouldn't I be?" Zuko scoffs, looking back to his empty coolant tank.
"Because it's like 3 am on a Thursday, and you're in a shady 7-11 parking lot with car trouble?" The guy responds sarcastically, moving to Zuko's right side.
Zuko is starting to get a little freaked out. Is this really how it ends for him? Why is this guy here? Why won't he leave?
Zuko turns to look at him again. They are about the same height. This guy seems a little bulkier than he is, but he could definitely take him in a fight.
"Yeah, and now there is a strange man talking to me," Zuko states, crossing his arms.

“Holy shit!” he cried, scrambling up and over the row of chairs in between them. He blocked Draco’s view of the professor. “You can see me!”
With a sigh, Draco gave a slight nod of his head.
“You can see me and you can hear me!”
or, by his freshman year of college, Draco is used to seeing ghosts everywhere he goes. Still, there's something about the ghost following one of his classmates that gets Draco's attention and according to the papers, he might not actually be dead ... yet.

Toph was the only one, aside from Suki and the adults, who had never personally suffered from Zuko. Toph didn't have a reason to hate him as much as the others did. It left her with the ability to really see him, ironically. Their whole relationship just... snuck up on him, he supposes. They were always focusing on other things like being in the Air temple, or running away from Azula, or finding ways to defeat Ozai. One day he just noticed just how close they were.

Times it was glaringly obvious Zuko and Toph were best friends but neither would admit it.
