Suguru pauses before knocking, his raised fist drops back to his side. He looks at Satoru, gives him a very obvious once-over.
“Take the jacket off,” he says.
Satoru looks at himself, at the sunny yellow letters on his chest that scream their purpose “How’s anyone going to know I’m FBI, dude?”
Suguru raises his eyebrows. Surely he cannot be this dense. “They’ll know.” He turns back toward the door, pauses again, then turns back to Satoru. “And let me do the talking.”
“But I memorized the case details and I’ve got questions-”
“You don’t know these people,” Suguru says. He doesn’t know them either, not personally–they understand each other in a way Satoru does not. Cannot. “You have no idea what they’ve been through.”
Satoru opens his mouth and closes it.
Suguru knocks.
Satoru Gojo has a pathological need to be right. He tells himself he’ll have this case solved in two weeks, and then he’ll wash his hands of this tiny little town.
But girls keep going missing; eyes are watching his every move; and this new partner of his, Suguru, has no idea how to breathe.

“Satoru?” The word rings, fuzzy in his ears as it whines like tinnitus, familiar and heart stopping.
‘I’m dead.’ He can’t even hear his own thoughts over the loudness of the world, staggering where he stands, eyes still fixated on the sky, on the sun. ‘I’m dead, I died, I felt my heart stop, this can’t be, it can’t-’
“Hey,” it comes again, a little more urgent than before, a little closer, another hammer to his ears and all the noise shrieking behind his eyes. He recoils hard enough to go stumbling as a hand reaches for him, covered in flesh rather than empty bone, tan and recognizable. Unbelievable.
There’s something wet trickling from his nose. Bile stings on the back of his tongue. The words dissolve into the rest of the white noise as he stares up at the blue of the sky, and tries to remember if he’d ever had a hallucination as bright as this.
‘I have to be dead,’ he thinks. Somehow, he isn’t.
Or: Gojo Satoru goes back in time. He makes a couple of changes for the better.

Tweek Tweak has always imagined a perfect meet-cute.
Maybe he would bump into someone beside his locker and drop all of his books, and they would help him up and hand him his books back with care.
Maybe someone would recognise the book he was looking at in a bookstore and strike up a meaningful conversation with him.
Maybe someone would ask for his number while he was at work, and they would spend the evening texting for hours on end.
The sort of thing you'd see in those cheesy 2000s rom-coms. Preferably on a day he had time to actually brush his hair and dress up nicely.
However, Tweeks dreams are shattered when he ends his night with a drunken stranger in the passenger seat of his car.
Is this really how his first meeting with someone who would potentially be the love of his life was going to go?

He smelt like coffee and high-end shampoo. His skin was alabaster, easily turning pink when he laughed or got flustered, bringing out the slight dust of freckles that splayed out over his nose and cheeks like scattered constellations in a milky sky.
His nose was slightly upturned, buttoned, and his lips were a dusty rose color and chapped, constantly bleeding or raw from picking. His top lip was thinner but his bottom one was full, set in a natural pout that seemed to always lay there on his face.
His eyes were blue. But not just blue- they were Turkish blue. Like a sky after a heavy storm. Beautiful and a little watery with long light lashes that matched his fluffy mess of dandelion-yellow hair; the cowlicks marring his scalp like crazed crop circles, making it stand and poke out in every direction.
But it was soft. It was so soft, like the fur of a guinea pig's coat.
Craig knew this because his hands tangled into it as he slammed his face against the lockers and busted those pretty lips under his knuckles.
