It was a typical night for Diluc, tending the bar at Angel's share. The atmosphere was low and quiet, patrons far and few between for the late evening in the middle of the week. He was enjoying his time, more or less, before one slip up and accident reveals a secret that Kaeya had apparently been hiding for years.

Summary
And once again, off Kaeya goes, detailing the Spark Knight's newest adventures with the Knights. Diluc focuses on following him, not really paying attention to what Kaeya is saying, but much more on the idea of not having a mental breakdown in the middle of Windrise.
Not now. Not here — not where Kaeya could see.
He'd gotten through enough of those on his own, just as he deserved; he didn't need to drag Kaeya down towards his own demons. Not again.
OR; the demons that Diluc normally face alone rear their ugly heads while with Kaeya. Kaeya, understandably, is horrified that his older and ridiculously stubborn brother lives like this. Takes place directly after 5.6.

Alhaitham doesn’t say anything. Is there a delicate way to say so do you still have feelings for me? without sounding self-absorbed?
“Is that all?” Kaveh murmurs. “I’ll get lunch for you, then.”
“Wait.”
Kaveh, half turned, raises an eyebrow at him. “Hm?”
“I—” Alhaitham swallows the word down. “When?”

“When. When did you… stop?”
“Stop?”

Crepus didn’t know how long he had been there, floating aimlessly in the inky black abyss. The only thing he could see was his own limbs. He didn’t need to breathe here, didn’t need to hear, didn’t need to smell. All he had known for so long was this strange place that seemed to defy all laws that Teyvat had.
The last thing he remembered was using his Delusion against Ursa to protect his son. He felt the Delusion’s power course through his body, driving Ursa away. Then…. Nothing, like he had passed out or worse from using it.

Or Crepus comes back, sees what's happening to his family, and is determined to fix it. Even if it kills him again.

Summary
Diluc had always resembled Master Crepus in a number of ways.
From his fiery red hair to the way in which he carried himself, he was the spitting image of his father. It was only natural with him being his son, but Kaeya couldn’t help but notice each and every uncanny similarity after Crepus’ passing especially.
When Kaeya wanted to be particularly cruel, he liked to purposely remind him of the resemblance.

Even the way in which Kaeya demanded respect from people resembled their father in a way. He too could turn things around in his favour with minimal effort, all while making the other party believe they were the ones getting the better deal.
Kaeya demanded respect because people both liked and feared him in equal measure.
Diluc demanded respect mostly because people just feared him.
Between the two of them, that meant Kaeya’s way of doing things resembled their father much, much more, though Diluc wondered if Kaeya was even aware of these similarities.
Not that he was about to point them out to him.

Or: Diluc and Kaeya both resemble their father in certain ways. Sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it doesn't.

Amber will come for me, he assured himself, She'll get the civilians to safety and then come back with help. I just have to keep myself alive until then. Two days, maybe three. Less if I can get to someplace where a patrol can spot me.He brought himself up to his knees, balanced on his good elbow as he began dragging himself forward through the snow. He'd try standing again when he could see better and didn't feel so dizzy.
Everything he could still feel screeched in protest at even the most minuscule of movements. He found himself winded, coughing violently in spite of not making any progress. He had absolutely no sense of direction as he crawled wretchedly, groping around for his sword.
It was going to be a long couple of days.

"Every hero needs a guy in the chair, right?" Kaeya grins. "And for you, that just so happens to be me." He gestures proudly toward himself, pushing off of the desk and twirling around in his computer chair.
Diluc rolls his eyes. "Whatever. You just don't want to get your hands dirty."
"I don't see it way, Luc. I think you mind less than I do, that's all," Kaeya states matter-of-factly. "Besides, you enjoy getting up close and personal, while I prefer the strategy and coordination. So I collect the intel you need, and you carry out the plan. It's a beautiful arrangement this way if you think about it, playing to our strengths and all." He sees a notification come through on one of the monitors, and goes back to typing.
"Tch," the redhead huffs, although he knows his brother is right. He leans against the doorway, crossing his arms. "So, what's the job?"
Alternatively: Diluc and Kaeya are partners on an investigation team, working together to fight crime syndicates, collect intel, and the like. But while Diluc is on a mission, Kaeya discovers a piece of crucial information at the worst time— right after communication with his brother goes dark.

Summary
“You’re not going.” Diluc declares and Kaeya all but sputters and chokes on the mushroom he was chewing. Diluc at the very least, has the remorse to pour him a cup of water for the surprise.
“And pray tell, what is your reasoning on why I shouldn't?” Kaeya challenges with a squint. On the contrary, he doesn't actually mind all that much, but he can't help but feel slighted at the sudden banning (another part, just wanting to be contrarian to annoy the redhead).
or: In the vein of immersive play, this is a fic brought about of what if the party you bring were actually there?
Set in the middle of the archon quest: Bedtime Story, Kaeya is told to stay behind in the serenitea pot with the others because the leyline disruption and Abyss influence seems to have made him feel less than ideal. Diluc is worried and with Lumine's help, they've banded together to use whatever underhanded method to make sure the Cavalry Captain takes care while they're away.

He finds himself stuck nursing a very reluctant and very awkward crush on Ajax, acting in ways he never before would, like agreeing to go to a party Ajax is hosting. That only leads to more Ajax, which does nothing to help his crisis. And, why does everyone around them keep trying to set them up?
