Perhaps it’s the knowledge that if Optimus dies, that idiot Sentinel takes charge of the Autobots. Perhaps it’s that Megatron wanted another kill to add to his tally. Perhaps it’s the tug of anguish and sorrow that the thought of Optimus dying evokes within him. He would rather not consider the latter too deeply.

Optimus’s optics were round in shock and fear as his life was held in Megatron’s servo just as the other’s was held in his.
