Summary
Alpha Dragon and Acting Head of the New York Institute Alec Lightwood, and his rider Gabriel Engelhorn, have their fair share of problems. Rebellious siblings, a Downworld in uproar over Valentine, his parents, and a Clave determined to block him at every turn.
Alpha Dragon and High Warlock of the Americas Magnus Bane and his rider Sam Winchester have spent years tracking down and doing their best to help eliminate the Circle's influence on the Downworld and beyond, despite little help from the Shadowhunters and the Clave.
When a chance meeting brings these four together - scales and sparks fly, battles are had, and maybe, just maybe, they each find what they had always been looking for.

Summary
Be careful what you wish for.
That was a saying that was something most people threw around in a teasing sort of way. Something to chide another with, maybe, after something goes wrong. But when dealing with magic there were no truer words. Be careful what you wish for was a very clear warning. One that Alec had heard Magnus lament over people not heeding so many different times.
Today was only further proof of that.
They’d come into this planning on doing a spell to give Alec immortality. They’d done their research, prepared themselves as best they could, but they’d forgotten that basic tenant. Be careful what you wish for.

Summary
For hundreds of years, dragons disappeared out of sight, and the tales of them were lost into myth and legend. The last Call hadn’t happened in almost eight hundred years.
Until now.
Until one young man felt the Call one cold winter night, wrapped up safe inside his bed, that told him his warlock was in trouble. Only once in the history of dragonkind had any dragon ever had the strength to resist a call like that.
So very few knew what it meant when the shadowhunter came stumbling from their chambers, eyes aglow with their mark and a growl rumbling their chest, save for a small handful. It was their presence that helped to save lives that night as they drew others back and made a path – because nothing and no one can get between a dragon and their warlock.
Not if they want to live, that is.

Summary
Magnus is turned into a dragon and appears to be stuck that way. (This is not how he pictured his Tuesday going.)
Alec is called to handle a disturbance that involves a dragon and meets a creature that is scared and in need of protection.
Within minutes of meeting each other, they are inseparable, with Alec taking responsibility for the small dragon, and Magnus taking advantage of the protection offered by the shadowhunter.
Neither of them is expecting a convenient arrangement for them both to evolve into something much, much more.

It never should have happened. That was all Alec could think as he knelt on the floor of the Ops Center and felt the cold metal of the adamas cuffs that closed around his wrists. Even as Aldertree stood there in front of him, smirking down at Alec with that smug superiority that Alec ached to knock off his face, part of Alec couldn’t move beyond stunned.
He’d known things were getting worse, that the Clave was going too far in their fear to stop Valentine and control everything, but he hadn’t thought they’d go this far.
When Alec finds himself arrested and tried under the crime of treason, he realizes that the Clave isn't going to change. Not unless he forces their hand. Unfortunately for them, he's not afraid to do just that. By any means necessary.

One thing that could be said about the Lightwoods - they were a stubborn bunch. If they wanted something, they usually found a way to get it, even if it meant changing the world to do it.
There was nothing Alec Lightwood-Bane wanted more in life than to find a way to spend the rest of his husband's lifetime with him and be would be damned if he didn't find a way. No matter what it took.
Even if it meant summoning an old Roman God and trying to barter for the deal of a lifetime.

This moment has been a long time coming. Though Alec had never wanted to take it this far, he'd always kept the idea there in the back of his mind. Something that he could do if the need ever proved great enough.
He was tired of fighting against the Lightwood name. Tired of trying to atone for sins he had never committed. Ever since he’d been old enough to walk Alec had carried the weight of generations on his shoulders. He’d shouldered the responsibility of being the oldest son, the Lightwood heir, the one who was going to – who had to – bring honor to the Lightwood name. Even before he’d known the true depths of their dishonor the weight had still been a heavy one.
No more. With one swipe of the stele, Alec was going to set his own path forward. One where he hoped he could do enough to make the angel proud.

At the same time, rumors began to whisper of the return of an old enemy. Those two things happening so close together couldn’t be a coincidence.
Magnus Bane set out to try and track down the source of that terrifying power, and to hopefully find a way to contain it or, at least, keep it from Valentine’s hands by any means necessary. He thought perhaps he’d find one of Valentine’s experiments, or some magical artifact.

Summary
Dating a dragon wasn't exactly the most common of things. Considering that dragons were pretty much considered extinct, or so well hidden no one could find them, it kind of made sense that no one had ever really heard of someone actually dating one. Unfortunately, that meant that Alec was kind of in unknown territory, even more so than he otherwise would've been.

For as long as there’d been Shadowhunters roaming the earth, using the powers granted to them by the blood of angels that flowed through their veins, there had been dragons. Wonderful, stunning creatures of magic who, for some reason that no one knew, bonded to Shadowhunters and Shadowhunters alone in one of the only shows of magic the Clave approved of.
It was a ritual when a Shadowhunter had their first rune ceremony for it to be followed by a trip to Idris. There, in the sacred nesting grounds where all dragons went to lay their eggs, a Shadowhunter would walk through those already hatched and those waiting, and they would find their dragon. Sometimes they’d find them in the youths playing, the two drawn together with a bond considered even more sacred than that of parabatai. Other times, the touch of the Rider would be enough to draw a dragon from their egg.
It was rare for a dragon to reach adulthood without bonding to their Rider.
It was unheard of for a Shadowhunter not to have a dragon.
