Summary
Following Sonic's heroic return to Green Hill and successful foiling of Doctor Eggman's plans to steal the Paradox Prism, the gang returns to the status quo. To them, it was just another one of the Doctor's many failed attempts to take over Green Hill.
To Sonic, it was like they had all forgotten far too soon.
Not made any easier by the unexplained absence of a certain black hedgehog.
(A short continuation of Sonic Prime Season 3, attempting to resolve the strange lack of Sonic and Shadow interacting after they escape the Shatterverse at the end of Episode 7.)

Summary
First Fan Fic: I originally planned one chapter. Now I am considering making this much longer, will see where my imagination takes this - and how long I can last raising the tension between our two favourite hedgehogs 🖤💙
Shadow has always had a complex relationship with the world around him and in particular with the Hero of Mobius. But since his birthday, things have become even more intense. Sonic the Hedgehog believes in freedom, and in conjunction has gone through his life as a free spirited flirt with zero attachment. But when he begins to see the dark hybrid in a new light, he cannot help himself and wants to see just how much of a reaction he can get out of him. Sonic begins to throw innuendo into Shadow’s face, knowing he can rile up his rival that way faster than any taunts he attempted before. He wants to break down that impenetrable wall. But has he bitten more than he can chew?
Sonic and his friends are aged up in this fic, 12 years down the line meaning Sonic and Shadow will be turning 27 on their respective birthdays. Wish me luck and some spare time to complete this or else it will haunt my dreams until it is put into words.

Shadow actually bristled at that question, narrowed eyes darting to glare at Sonic as he crossed his arms,
“Fool, you think that the ultimate lifeform would live in some pathetic cave?”
“Actually, I’ve never really considered where you lived.” Sonic admitted, deciding to ignore the ultimate lifeform comment - he had to pick his battles right now, “But in my defense no one in the village really knows anything about you. You know, besides the fact that you go on murderous rampages.”
“I’ve never killed anyone… In your village.” Shadow defended, and Sonic felt sweat dripping down the back of his neck.Or, when one of Eggman's attacks actually succeeds in wounding Sonic, he and Shadow are forced to spend some time together. To both of their chagrin.
