Summary
The twist of this Quarter Quell is a pisser. It's a money grab, plain and simple. In an effort to replicate the unprecedented financial success (and in-Capitol viewing numbers) of the 74th annual Hunger Games, Games organizers have announced that this year's Quarter Quell will again utilize a team format.
This time, teams will be randomly-selected mixed-district duos, introduced during opening ceremonies. The typical alliances are off and I can't help but blame my district partner for that. Worse, my teammate's some scrappy piece of District 7 trash with more guts than wit. It's up to me to get him home to his young daughter, and that's not how I've been taught to play this game.

Summary
After 27 years, Earth's Hail Mary comes through. After the beetles are spotted, Eva Stratt forces her way into the CSA office to learn what the Hail Mary crew discovered. Downloading the data is slow and happens in pieces, so the team has to try piecing together what happened out in the Tau Ceti system.
Eva Stratt is faced with the reality of what she did to Grace, watching him deal with the situation she put him in, leading to a complex mix of emotions. Part of her wishes things could have been different. But she knows that wishing on a star is useless.
