Summary
"Traveler of the Wind" is set in the Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of the Spirit) universe. It tells the story of Uehashi Nahoko's Hunters, assassins who work for the Mikado and protect him from his enemies. The premise takes a dark world as a given; the pre-canon Mikado was a terrible tyrant that made many of the current Hunters or their families suffer terribly. The series covers individual backstories for each Hunter, as well as treatments of the canon novels that make the plots more Hunter-centric. Jin (Taiga Amusuran) and Yun (Hasham Itasuran) are the main characters; Mon (Ryuu Orutoran), Hyoku (Suyou Rakusuran) and Sun (Akira Ayutan) are secondary protagonists. The other Hunters have largely supporting roles, with occasional star turns.

Late to start training, Jin must find a balance between a Hunter's unhesitating duty to his Mikado, his personal loyalty to the Mikado's son Chagum, and the imperatives of his own conscience. Ultimately, all of the Hunters will have to choose between the Mikado and the Crown Prince - and between allegiance to each other or to those vying for control of the New Yogo Empire.
