When Sonic messages, it's usually one of two things. Either he's bored and deciding to make it Shadow's problem, or he's updating the other on an Eggman attack, as if Shadow doesn't already know the instant the Doctor decides to make an appearance. So when his phone starts incessantly beeping with message notifications, Shadow lets out a long-suffering groan, digging it out of his quills and bookmarking the page of the novel he had been so happily reading.

The words seem to snap something inside of the other, Shadow jerking out of his state almost instantly to gauge the other hedgehog in… flustered, confusion?
It’s gone before Sonic can parse it, a neutral frown upon Shadow’s lips.
