"Huckleberry! Look, we should do this!" She eagerly faced her phone to Dennis.
Dennis looked over to her phone; there was a video playing, with the caption: "Letting my bridesmaids give my husband spicy polaroids during the reception". It looked like a compilation of the trend; he watched each of the grooms' reactions, each one looking flustered before hiding the photo.
He looked at Trinity, amused and blushing red. "No, Trin, absolutely not. We're not even getting married, it's just a celebration."
"But it'll be fun! I know it's not a wedding, but it might as well be! I promise I'll be the one passing it with my fellow lesbian friends" Trinity grinned wider at him.
"But—" he sighed before looking at Trinity. She was looking at him with a face that said 'you and I both know you want to do it'. He felt his face getting hotter before saying,
"Fine."

Summary
In Dennis Whitaker's world, there were heroes and anti-heroes. There are also the ordinary people and “vigilantes”. Now, people are not that interested in vigilantes, even heroes think of these people as disposables or just overall distractions.
The point is that he, actually, has the potential to be a hero. He had powers—yes, powers— but being a runaway from the countryside? Yeah, good luck because there's no goddamn way they are not finding his ass and bringing him back where he doesn't want to be.
Okay, but that wouldn't explain why Whitaker was sitting (ducking, really) under the counters as shots were fired, or maybe he should say lasers? objects were flinged? Either way, he's fucking scared for his life and doesn't know how he will explain that the windows and tables were broken or gone, and he can't sacrifice his salary to replace them.

Summary
Whitaker was used to getting beaten up. Having three older brothers, growing up in the countryside, helping his family run a farm - it all came with the area.
It was fine. Really. He could take a punch. He knew how to tape himself back up, lick his wounds, and move on. Being hurt, to Dennis, was just a part of life.

Summary
The conference itself would’ve been bad enough on its own. Three days in Virginia Beach with physicians from across the East Coast attending lectures and networking events and social hours that nobody actually wanted to participate in. But no, PTMC had also agreed to some commemorative panel recognizing the one-year anniversary of Pittfest.
Meaning Robby somehow ended up scheduled the next day to accept a departmental honor recognizing “exceptional leadership and emergency response coordination during mass casualty management.” There would apparently also be a plaque. A shiny new plaque to hang in the ED. Because nothing helped process collective trauma like polished wood and engraved brass.
Or, Robby is selected to sit on a conference panel commemorating Pittfest and accept an award on behalf of PTMC. (Inspired by the photo of Noah Wyle looking *lovingly* at a picture of Gerran/Dennis)
