“Hey, Nat,” says Peter, looking up from the waffle iron for the first time. “Do you want a waffle? I think Mr. Stark has some whipped cream, and I have skittles and gummy bears to add flavor and texture.”

Danny would like to say for the record that it was not his fault.
In fact, Danny would say that it was entirely Clockwork's fault. After all, he wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for that cryptic time god.
But what was his fault was the fact that he kept helping.
He kept taking the cash from the assholes messing with the residents who lived in the area (and damn there were a lot of assholes near where he lived). He kept accepting their offers of food. So because of this new routine that kept him able to afford to rent out his shitty (and possibly illegal) apartment and the hunger pangs sufficiently satisfied, rumors grew.
tldr; after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.

“You shouldn’t be showin’ your face ‘round these parts. Not after what your Greaser friends did last night,” Brill hisses.
“Maybe he has a death wish,” Chet adds.
“Yeah. You got a death wish, Greaser?”
“Pershing Park’s Greaser territory,” Two-Bit replies, albeit a little strained under the force of the hands on him. And he knows he should keep his mouth shut; Socs like to hide switchblades in the pocket of their slacks and sport class, rings that can leave a nasty scar with enough force. One wrong word and he’s dead meat, but Two-Bit can’t help but run his mouth, “Someone should’ve reminded Bob Sheldon that last night.”
There’s a subtle shock at Two-Bit’s quip that presents itself in a spell of defining silence before both Chet and Brill’s faces twist up in sheer rage. With a grunt, they hoist Two-Bit from the ground and splay him across the hood of a car parked on the curb. Hands return to his body before he can try and escape, holding him down by the legs and shoulders.
He’s utterly immobile.

Summary
For fifteen years now Spencer Reid had been the tool of a group of men in a place known as "The Facility".
