He attributes Achilles’ tardiness to matters at the House. Perhaps the stranger, who’s not so strange anymore, had a grand fight with his lord father, leaving their house in disrepair. Perhaps shades are causing trouble. Perhaps he simply overslept. No matter. There are many things to occupy his time, from the herb garden to tidying his home. Their home, built by the shades under Hades’ employ. Or rather, at the behest of the stranger.
When Achilles is captured during Chronos' invasion, Patroclus wonders why he has left him again.

Still, he swallows it down. Keeps going. It’s fine. It’s just a game.
He approaches the doors, takes one final breath, and then—
“A block of gold?”
Well, what had he expected, anyway?
Something grander?
Something scarier?

It had almost been a year since he last woke up from his most recent hundred-year-nap, and yet, nothing really interesting has gone on. It was nice, of course, to see the progress of the little kingdom throughout the years. Each time he woke up, it was always a pleasant surprise to find that the scenery had changed yet again.
