It becomes some sort of obsession, watching Kara eat sugary foods. Whenever it happens, and it happens often, Lena finds herself hoping that residue will cling to Kara’s lips. If she feels particularly daring, she imagines herself reaching out to wipe it off. With a napkin, her thumb, her own mouth.
It’s stupid. It’s probably disgusting. Lena can’t put a stop to it.

When you leave an exploding planet don't get stuck in the Phantom Zone for twenty-six years so you land on a weird planet, where you don't even know the language, late and your cousin has to (quite unwillingly) take care of you.-
Or the one where Kara lands at a different time aged five for plot reasons and stuff happens and she ends up with Lois Lane and Cat Grant as her moms, Nia as her awesome alien sister and Carter Grant as her too-smart for-his-own-good brother. While Lex Luthor turns out to be a good guy while Lillian Luthor runs rampage on Metropolis and Lena ends up being looked after by her amazing and very feminist big brother who introduces her to Kara at a young age and it takes them a long time to realise they are in love.

Summary
Every great love story starts with two strangers.
When Kara agreed to meet the guy who the site claimed she was 82% compatible with, she couldn't have known that she was in for the night that changed her whole life. She hoped she was going to meet the love of her life (which was a lot to ask from a human dating site) and to be fair, she did; just not the way the site intended.
Lena Luthor did not expect to stay in National City for too long, and she certainly didn't expect her life to change in a restaurant she found by accident after getting lost; but life could be unexpected that way.

The discovery of life on other planets had become a point of contention among Earth’s residents. Some gladly welcomed the various new species, while others screamed ‘mutilated freaks!’ and called for the barring of aliens living on Earth, for them to go back from where they came from.
In order to ensure that aliens would always have a place to live, Queen Regina of Storybrooke, along with the Ambassador of the United Planets, Kara Zor-El, were planning on getting married, making Storybrooke the first country to fully welcome aliens, making them citizens. Everyone who was anyone was going to be in attendance.
Also planning on attending was L Corp's Lena Luthor, who had been developing technological marvels to help aliens feel at home. In order to ensure her safety, she hired Emma Swan as a bodyguard.
Everything was set.
But a chance encounter was bound to change everything.
