Mob tried, and failed, to end it all. To be free from Verity and the hold he had on him. Verity stopped him, somewhat, and now has to face the consequences of his actions.
They both have things to talk about and learn while also fixing the issues that were caused.

Everything has gone horribly for Caine and he ends up being tossed in the recycle bin to reflect on his horrific actions towards the humans he adored. But as he sits and waits to be permanently deleted, he comes face to face with the sins of his past.

He always made it a point to eat the players last, in some twisted way he enjoyed them. He didn't care about them, he had to make that clear. But he liked the company they brought. The smiles, the laughter, the questions both brilliant and dumb that would be asked. They were funny little creatures, so trusting. He liked them enough not to immediately pounce.
Verity would keep the facade of helpfulness and a bright attitude, until they started noticing the villagers going missing. Until there was no one left, but them. When they began to question him, when they started to pull away, that was when he’d strike.
He was still waiting for this one to pull away.
Or
A recounting of how Verity and Mob met, and how their relationship forms. Verity is waiting for the moment Mob runs away, waiting to finally feast, only to see that the other... hasn't. And with that, Verity begins to look at him in a new light, which can mean nothing good for Mob.

“Like this.” Verity lifts the log with surprising strength. Mob hears it thud behind him.
