    Ilya doesn’t even try to stop the litany of Russian swears from spilling out. He also doesn’t stop himself from cursing Marly’s whole family line, and then verbalizing some of his more homicidal thoughts about Scott Hunter and the kitchen sink. He lets his Russian ranting die out and takes a few deep breaths.

    Everyone has quieted to look at him.

    “Feel better?” Marly asks.

    Maybe Ilya could drown Marly in the sink along with Hunter. Maybe he could kill everyone in the suite before Shane wakes up. He’d have to kill the butler guy, too…and the front of house staff…and the wedding chapel staff…and then convince Shane to run away with him to somewhere that would neither extradite to the US nor prosecute them for being gay. Messy. Too messy.

    OR

    Ilya wakes up with a wedding ring and a WHOLE LOT of questions...but at least Marly and Scott fucking Hunter are having a good time. This is Ilya's worst nightmare which, as it turns out, features a night of blackout drinking, misguided but supportive friends, and some VERY stupid decisions.

    An interval between two parts of the same story. Often mistaken for an ending.

    The All-Star Game is supposed to be harmless. Bright lights, broadcast smiles, forced camaraderie, famous rivals pretending none of it matters.

    Shane can handle all of that. What he cannot handle is Ilya two corridors away, wearing the wrong jersey, captaining the wrong team, and acting like they are not in love.

    Then a bomb threat empties the arena before puck drop. The players are told to stay in their dressing rooms. The delay becomes a lockdown. The lockdown becomes captivity.

    Below the ice, with the league’s most valuable players held as hostages, Shane and Ilya have to survive the night without reaching for each other, without giving themselves away, and without letting fear turn into something worse.

    OR
    A hostage crisis, three targeted All-Stars, and Shane trying not to lose his mind every time Ilya opens his mouth.

    "You may not remember my wedding day that much, dude, but I do. This is going to be a lot."

    Despite all that, he didn't care. He wants to stand with his friends and teammates and show them, openly and loudly, how much he loves his husband. He wants to share this deeply special part of his life with them in the way he's stood by and watched others do for so many years, still savouring the fact that he really gets to have it all.

    Shane and Ilya are hosting the Centaurs' annual end of season send off party. Between heated food debates, arguing about early playoff exits and a few cups of rum, Shane finds himself thinking about the journey it took to get him here, showing off his love for the world to see.

    He has a lot of feelings about it. He swears he's not an emotional drunk.

    Svetlana does not call her mother, and she will not talk about Ilya’s mother with him. God, she wonders, why did it have to be Irina?
