This is a fix-it of sorts, but also an exploration of Victor, and I write him like the messy bitch he is so buckle in for unreliable narration, repression and denial, selfish empathy(?), and mommy issues.
There WILL be The Creature x Victor, and Victor does essentially raise him through the first bit of this fic, so if that squicks you out, get out now or open your mind to ineffable and immutable connections that transcend social concepts of relation, especially when one part of the relationship is only vaguely human.

Hob Gadling, owner of the New Inn, finds a coat, forgotten on a chair, and without much thought, puts it away in the lost and found closet. Unbeknownst to him, the coat belongs to Selkie Dream, who, by the law of the sea, is forced to stay with Hob as long as he has his seal skin. Dream is understandably very unhappy with the situation and is determined to find his coat and escape from his cruel captor. Meanwhile, Hob is just trying to figure out why his handsome guest seems to hate his guts.

But first he takes on a bizarre beneficiary, a reclusive artist and ward of Duke Cecil J. Heimerdinger, a man named Viktor. Viktor, an artist for Piltover Press, harbors ideations of attending Piltover University... but to get there, he will need signatures and sponsorships and the backing of nobility. Lord Talis always enjoys a challenge.
... It's a shame it distracts him from the task of taking a wife.
