"I just need to rest," Samira mumbles, her voice close to cracking. She looks down and traces shapes with the tip of her blood-stained sneaker. She knows rest won't come tonight.
After a second of hesitation, Jack slowly lifts his hand to cup her chin and tilt her head up, forcing her to make eye contact with him. She hears the rumble of his voice and the soothing lilt to his tone as he makes some sweet and way to generous offer as he so often does, trying to cajole her into letting him help solve her problems, but she can't hear it over the sound of blood rushing to her ears as she sinks into the dark, gaping chasm of childhood that split open in her mind.

A young man stumbled up to them, looking visibly inebriated. He leaned into Robby's space, a glint of fear in his eyes despite the smile on his face.
“Heeyyy,” the young man slurred, Robby couldn't smell any alcohol on him, but that didn't mean much.
“Could you do me a like, reaally big favor?” Both Robby and Jack have turned to face the man at this point.
“What can we do for you, sweetheart?” Jack says, mildly amused. The kid's grin turns a little dopey at the pet name, and he seems to momentarily forget what he was doing. Robby nods, encouraging him to continue.
“Ooh, right,” the kid nods, “Can you pretend to be my boyfriend?” Jack snorts at that, Robby lets out a long, weary sigh.

Really, it hadn’t been that traumatizing of an ordeal. Sure, maybe having the burlap sack thrown over his head as he was jumped on the way to his Jeep had been a bit of a surprise, but with John being related to who he was related to….it isn’t all that shocking. It was bound to happen sooner or later. John is honestly more shocked he didn’t realize it was happening until he was haphazardly thrown into the car with an undignified yelp.
The car, or van, whatever the fuck it was, is stuffy and bumpy. Sweat pools around his neck and John really wonders for a second if this was some other elaborate prank from the rest of the staff of County General considering they seemed to make it their life’s mission to poke and prod at him. If they weren’t saving people’s lives, that is. Whoever it is had to have been pretty strong considering all the flailing and kicking John had done before getting tossed over their shoulder.
John knows one thing. He’s never taking a night shift again.

He didn't need to say "bullshit", Robby heard it loud and clear. "I just need a vacation," Robby repeated for, what, the tenth time - the word slurring a little with the whiskey.
The tension was thick and for a terrible moment Robby thought Jack might call him on this. Might make him admit that his heart had finally broken three months ago, in that long night after Pittfest when, drunk and in pieces, he'd called Jack and finally asked if he could ever have even more of him.

On his sabbatical, Robby decides to ride Jack's hometown, Oceanside, California - where someone he meets someone who looks wildly familiar.

“Yes, well… like I said, these are entirely mundane legal proceedings. This has nothing to do with Mr. Le Bail or the High Council.” He hands Grace a packet of paper, waiting for her to scan over it before continuing. “Even in the absence of Mr. Le Bail’s favor, the Danforth family fortune is considerably immense, especially for a woman of your…” The Attorney trails off, eyeing Grace and Faith’s depressing poor people apartment. “Economic circumstances.”
“Wait,” Grace sputters, flipping through the paperwork. “I don’t get it. Why would I inherent the Danforth family fortune?”
“Well, you are the last remaining Danforth.” The attorney explains simply. As though it’s so simple.
