Summary
A dark mass of fur trots up to her, a dead fox in its mouth, and Zelda braces herself for a fight she knows she can’t win.
It’s a giant black wolf with strange white markings on its face and startlingly clear blue eyes. It just stands in front of her, staring, before it drops the dead fox at her feet and sits. Its tongue lolls out of its mouth as it pants, licking the blood from its lips, and stray droplets plink against a metal cuff shackled to its front left foot.
That’s strange, she thinks. Why would a wolf be held captive?
(And is its tail wagging?)
The Master Sword buzzes, rattling in her hands, and the wolf’s eyes light up before it pounces.
OR
After the Calamity strikes and her Hero falls, Zelda, wracked with grief, must return the whispering Master Sword to Korok Forest. She does so with a Good Boy by her side.

Summary
In hindsight, maybe it had been a bad idea to ambush the Yiga clan.
Well, “ambush” was a strong word. He had snuck in to the Yiga clan hideout. Broken in, if you will.
Okay, that didn’t actually sound less stupid. At least, not to anyone who didn’t know about this whole “destined hero” stuff. The stuff that to Link was simultaneously too unbelievable to be real, all that he had known since he’d awoken, and so familiar to him sometimes it did feel like it was his destiny. Or, maybe, familiar to a different version of him, a destiny for a different Link, the one that had died a century ago in all but name, and left him to pick up the pieces.
Anyway. Yiga clan. Hideout. Being caught and kidnapped. Yeah.
A bad choice leads to an unexpectedly horrible turn of events. For Link, it is a uniquely bad, and yet somehow typically painful, encounter.
Or: Link really needs therapy after becoming a chosen hero at the tender age of 17.

Summary
The Shrine of Resurrection is a masterwork of engineering. A work of art as much as it is science, a great feat of the Sheikah clan's mastery of magic and technology. It is a shame, then, that knowledge of its operation has been lost to time.
The Hero was never meant to be put in the Shrine of Resurrection. The Shrine of Resurrection was never meant to hold someone for a hundred years.

He blinked. “Impa, the glyphs say it’s not possible.”
“Oh, Link, old friend, I don’t care what the Zonai thought was possible. Perhaps they didn’t know of a way to reverse the draconification process, but that was so, so very long ago. Think of the legends we’ve recorded over the centuries since, all the many ways that Hyrule has been saved from ruin by unimaginable power — do you think the Zonai really knew everything that would ever come to be?
“It will be hard to find, certainly, but I believe wholeheartedly that there is something in this land that can bring her back. So unless you don’t think we owe it to our Princess to try, I suggest you get up off the floor, wipe the tears off your face, and get to work.”
