Severus Snape is headed off to Hogwarts for his very first year of wizarding school, and while he is excited, he is also rightly frightened.
Or:
Severus and Lily had a plan, be friendly if they got the same house, pretend to not know each other if they got split up. In no way shape or form let ANYONE know they were siblings in all but blood, because that would paint a target upon both their backs!
Or:
Year by year the war rushed upon them, and then the cresting wave broke, yet friends for life stayed strong, and did what friends do, they'd helped each other survive!

Summary

Summary
Severus navigates life as a Hogwarts student. It’s not as easy as it sounds. It begins with step one: gaining permission to enter Hogwarts (check and mate) and everything within the castle (work in progress). Good thing he is clever. (And has his mother at his side.)
“You don’t need permission from anyone and everyone,” his mother had explained. “There is a work around, you see. It is about the intention behind it. Humans mostly don’t even notice when they give you permission and wizards are as ignorant as they can be.” Her smile became a bit mean. “With sending you the acceptance letter, you have been granted permission by the headmaster and magic sees him as the highest instance for giving people permission to enter Hogwarts. You can just walk into the castle without speaking to anyone.” She had ruffled his hair when she had noticed his baffled look.
“That’s so unsafe!” he had exclaimed before he could stop himself, blushing furiously afterwards when she laughed delighted.
