Summary
The Japanese language only has two verb tenses; past and present. If one is gone and you can't seem to place yourself in the other, how do you move into a future without the dream that always led you? Shane Hollander has lost hockey; the ability to play and the access to his memories, nine years of accomplishments documented in stark contrast that he cannot seem to see past and find who he was.
Right now, he finds himself on a guided hiking trip everyone claimed would be a good idea, if only a goal to focus his rehab on. Shane doesn't believe he will find himself somewhere in the Canadian wilderness, but the outrageously flirty, forward Russian guide that keeps him upright through every stumble is at least a welcome distraction from the emptiness looming ahead. One foot in front of the other, one step at a time. Sometimes, we don't actually need a direction to start moving.

Summary
Now that Shane has started his sophomore year at Boston University, he wants nothing but to focus on his classes, play hockey, and forget about The Incident that happened at the end of his freshman year. Of course that would be easier without Ilya Rozanov, who lives in the same frat house as him, reminding him of it every three seconds.
Ilya wants to finish his studies and go pro. His father is paying for him to be here on the condition that he passes all his classes before signing a contract. He should be focusing on that rather than thinking about the boy two doors down from his bedroom.
And what's the best way to get over someone you can't stop thinking about? Get under them of course.
