Between the gruesome corpses and the quiet, unsettling doctor Cullen who shows up like a statue in pressed slacks, lying through his teeth, Charlie’s got more questions than answers—and no one seems too keen on giving him either.
Charlie’s trying not to notice how his breath catches when the doc gets too close. He’s also trying not to notice how the bodies keep piling up, unsolved. Neither effort is going particularly well.
And if one more person tells him it was a bear, he’s going to shoot something. Probably not a bear.

I found myself constantly trying to re-watch and get time references for the events of the show as I wrote, so I put together a timeline and thought I'd share it for anyone else in the same situation. This version lists both dates/time referents and the relevant episode where the events occur, and contains spoilers for all episodes and all specials.

Summary
Alan Wake has prepared for his Return, his story about the crisis at the Bureau worked, and he was coming back. But it wasn't enough. The Dark Presence wanted its writer, and one story wouldn't be enough to let him go. So Alan started writing again, fighting to escape the never-ending darkness. With Thomas Zane gone, still trying to handle Mr. Scratch, he needed someone to ground him, help him keep the Dark Presence's influence away from his mind so he could focus on his escape. He needed Desmond Wales.
Concept chapter for a fanfiction crossover between In Sound Mind and Alan Wake. As of now I don't have any plans to continue it, although that may change in the future.
