Summary

This, in itself, was not news; Uther, by dint of a recalcitrant, bloodthirsty personality backed by military power and an unshakable belief in the Divine Right of Kings, had made a great deal of enemies in his day, and, in truth, made new ones almost daily.
But this time was different, in that it was entirely Arthur’s fault.

Summary
In which Gwaine finally realizes that Merlin has never had a day off and hatches a brilliant plan: Step One, get Merlin liquor'd up so he won't protest The Plan; Step Two, fake a kidnapping and a ransom note that will force Arthur and the rest of Camelot's nobles to treat their servants better, and Step Three, return Merlin to Arthur once he's done, with no one the wiser and everyone happier.
Unfortunately, Gwaine's plans have never once worked out the way he thought they would, and things just sort of fall apart from there.

Or: Uther is having a horrible day, Arthur discovers the power of teenage rebellion despite not being a teenager, Morgana gets the support she needs, and somehow, no one notices Merlin sweating in the corner.
