“It’s illegal to hunt animals,” Seonghwa explained softly, eyes flicking over to where Hongjoong was now glaring distastefully at their cottage as a whole. “We get allotted rations from the city on a weekly basis.”
“You aren’t allowed to hunt?” Mingi asked. “Like— at all? What if something happens to your blood supply?”
Yeosang shrugged. “We starve,” he deadpanned.
“Vampires are ruthless, bloodthirsty monsters,” Hongjoong bit out. “The only way they’re allowed to hunt is if they’re a part of a pack because they need to be kept in check. I can’t imagine what sort of delusional pack would want the burden of bloodsuckers though.”
OR
Seonghwa will do anything to keep his fledglings safe. Anything. Hongjoong's top priority has always been and will always be the safety and well-being of his packmates.
They learn they're not as dissimilar as they once believed themselves to be. And they could perhaps be more if they allow themselves to trust one another.

I’m tired of my job and my boss and the people and the unfair work load they put on me and I’m tired of ruining you all. I feel like I don’t deserve to be in this pack.
“Yeah,” Jeongguk slips out, and his mind doesn’t catch up with his body. “I’m okay, just tired from work. I’m dealing with allergies right now.”
Or: Jeongguk gets sick, discovers his pack is far more observant than he'd like, and finally learns that being loved isn't something he has to earn.

Summary
Uncontrollable sobs wracked his frame, his body and mind aching. He wasn’t even sure why he was so upset at this point, his body moving on autopilot as he clumsily made a small nest. He crawled into the middle, feeling absolutely miserable as he scratched more red lines in his arms in an attempt to get rid of the awful feeling lurking under his skin.
Seonghwa drops. The rest of ATEEZ panics.

Summary
Hongjoong isn't sure how to define his and Seonghwa's relationship.
They're partners, co-pack leaders, best friends.
And maybe Hongjoong wishes it were more, but he won't say anything. Seonghwa is unpresented—a late bloomer—and Hongjoong doesn't want him to feel tied down to anything before he does present.
Everything changes during the pack's annual winter vacation. First, a blizzard snows them in at their remote mountain cabin. Then, Seonghwa unexpectedly presents and enters his first heat. And Hongjoong is forced to confront the feelings he's been pushing down for years.
