Summary
katabasis - kə’tabəsɪs, (n.) derived from the ancient Greek for descent, refers to a journey downward, primarily used in literature and mythology to describe a hero’s journey into the underworld.
He imagines being tucked into a coffin, heartless and stitched back half-heartedly by someone who didn’t love him enough to do it right — and that list is long — the needle tugging loose and lazy through his skin, and wreaths looped around his broken throat like a noose.
He imagines bouquets of flowers growing where his lungs used to be, roots threading between his ribs, drinking him dry. A crow’s hollow nest of bones in place of a heart — or perhaps a stopped clock, hands frozen at whatever time the bleeding finally won.
Or: It takes eleven hours for the world to notice that their boy hero is gone, it only takes Tommy three of those eleven hours to vanish.

Summary
"Tommy, kids are always going to be assholes." Phil says, for once sounding like a robot, almost monotone in that way Techno's tone is on the daily. "Just ignore them. They're probably just miserable and," Phil lifts one hand and waves it around, gesturing, before bringing it back down to continue typing. He doesn't turn around to look at Tommy at all. "—you know." he sighs.
"You can a handle it." his dad says. "Just— grow up. Be the bigger person."
A heavy weight like a stone drops in Tommy's stomach. He feels it, and with the stone, his heart as well. For a second, he thinks he might be sick.
Just grow up.
"O—oh." Tommy chokes, feeling a ball forming in his throat, blocking it up, causing tears to prick at his eyes. He goes to try to speak around it, but—
"Is there anything else you need?" Phil asks, endlessly facing away, still not even bothering to face Tommy. "I'm really busy, kiddo."
