Or: Noah has been trafficked by his birth pack for years. He's not expecting the police raid, and he's certainly not expecting to scent his fated alpha among the cops. To him, fated packs are a life sentence of suffering. So he does the only logical thing, and takes a leap out the window.

The wind was strong and blew against his cheeks. The thin white clothes did little to keep him warm. The vampire was there. Imposing as he always was, standing at the gate of the estate and looking out with a smile that would never in the world mean anything good.
"Mihai."
He said, with that tone of amusement that made him distrust even his own shadow.
"Master. You called me."
"Yes, I did. It's time for us to say goodbye."
Confusion clouded the human’s expression. What did he mean by that? He had always been the type to enjoy games. So why call him to the gate to say goodbye? All he knew was that he would soon find out.
"I have to say, it was fun having you. It's been a long time since I've had such a fun human on my property. But you're getting... old. Your blood isn't the same anymore."
"So I've decided to give you what you've always wanted, dear. You're free. So I suggest you hurry up and run. The creatures of the forest are most lively at night."
Then he pushed him out the gate, closing it, and Mihai felt his stomach turn. He was dead.

The leader stepped forward, and the betas flanking him moved further out to the side to keep a clear line of fire on Max without impeding the alpha’s progress. The alpha’s nostrils flared and his advancing steps stuttered, pausing and then resuming twice as fast. Max felt a sick little swoop in his belly, grim satisfaction that his plan was working mixed with an awareness of what that would mean for him later. Guns down, gentlemen. Oscar protocol.
The betas lowered their rifles instantly, pointing them at the ground in front of Max instead of his chest. Max took a deeper breath in, his tension easing a bit as he moved past the part of the plan where he might just get shot dead before he had a chance to try to bargain. It had always been a risk; it had just seemed like a better death than slow starvation.
The alpha stepped closer, looking him over. He was a big man, but also quiet, light on his feet. Max tipped his chin up. It was a gesture of submission, and it showed that his neck was bare. No bonding bites, no competing claims. The added vulnerability made him tremble a little harder, but it was worth it for the way the alpha zeroed in on his throat.
