If Rodimus had, say, been sitting up by the bar at Swerve’s, having a nice sip of engex while hearing that sentence, he absolutely would have spat everywhere upon its completion. Maybe fallen off his chair, too.
As it is, despite having no drink to spit nor chair to disembark, he still chokes on nothing, sputtering helplessly at Ratchet’s stone cold serious face.
“I—you—I’m sorry, did—I—” Rodimus finally gives up and simply asks, “What?”
“I want you to fuck Drift for me,” Ratchet repeats, like it’s any more comprehensible a second time around.

Summary
When sabotage damages the Lost Light enough to make habsuite space a premium, Ratchet and Drift are forced by circumstance to become roommates. While they initially seem completely ill suited for each other, clashing at almost every turn, they slowly form a tentative friendship amidst the drama unfolding in the background.
But Ratchet suspects that Drift is not being completely forthcoming, and everything comes to a head when Drift decides to oust Rodimus as captain and ban all side trips henceforth. After being exiled from the Lost Light, Ratchet and Rodimus decide to head back when they realize Drift and the ship are in danger from the Decepticon Justice Division.
After a fierce fight, Rodimus is captain again, and Drift has disappeared somewhere inside the ship, disgraced after everything that occurred. But Ratchet isn’t willing to give up on his friend so easily; he wants to know the answer to a simple question: why?
Inspired by the recently released MTMTE Notebooks and the original vision of Drift’s arc.
