Kaveh’s father smiles at him, slowly, so Kaveh can see it happen; the corners of his mouth quirk upwards and his eyes twinkle. He’s moving, alive.
Kaveh hasn’t seen his father smile – not the expression itself, preserved in an old Kamera shot he kept in his sketchbook, but the very action of smiling – in almost ten years.

They gravitated towards Zuko whenever the temperature dipped even slightly. At night, he often woke to someone pulling their bedroll towards him, or slipping under his arm, or turning over in their sleep and colliding with his shoulder.
It alarmed him, at first. It had never been a good thing when someone woke him in the dead of the night.
It was strange, then, that he was on the run without Uncle, officially a traitor to his homeland, and for the first time since his mother left, he woke in the night sandwiched between bodies, feeling safe.

“Go for it, then, but I hope you're prepared to lose.” Cheng Xiaoshi laughs again, letting the controller go and pressing his forehead to Lu Guang’s shoulder as he shakes, grinning. He’s so warm. Has he always been this touchy?
Could Lu Guang have been making him smile like this in every timeline since the first? Looking hurts his chest. He squeezes the controller a little tighter. “...Everyone needs a few tries to succeed.”

Summary
Lu Guang had chosen to live for Cheng Xiaoshi a long time ago. It was the first time he’d seen him die. Maybe even before that. If you think about it too long, living for someone else's sake is a pretty foolish thing to do, but it's a little more complicated than that. Living for someone else is both a selfish and selfless act. Selfless in that you put the safety and wellbeing of that other person above your own. Selfish in the fact that you can’t live without them.
Just a little something to feed my Shiguang obsession.

Summary
Tragedy strikes the hero community when Bruce Wayne commits a crime so heinous even the best start asking for blood. If Lu Guang were awake, he’d push Xiaoshi away and say, stop that, do you think I’m a cat? (He is, but he wouldn’t ever admit that on his own.)
So. Xiaoshi is free to run his hand through Lu Guang’s fluffy hair and listen to his soft breathing as he finally falls asleep for the first time in over twenty-four hours. He doesn’t think it’s at all delusional to say that Lu Guang feels more comfortable like this. He hopes so, anyway.
The best one can do, sometimes, is to just to be there.

Summary
When the thunder comes again, inevitably, and Lu Guang can't stop himself from flinching, recognition flits across Cheng Xiaoshi's face.
And he doesn't laugh or tease. He doesn't make fun of Lu Guang for what is entirely nonsensical and childish. He lays a hand over Lu Guang's open palm, as if inviting him to lace their fingers together. Neither of them do. He can't. Maybe Cheng Xiaoshi is waiting for him to. As he closes his eyes for just a moment, the lightning flickers in through the window, morphing his Xiaoshi into one with no wide grin, no soft brown eyes.
“Hey, it's okay—let me do this for you.”
There's a storm, and Lu Guang spirals inwards.
