The gun trembled in his brother’s hand as they kept staring at each other, the words almost as pleading as Ilya’s own. If his eyes hadn’t started to sting, he might have seen his brother’s well up as well. Instead, that childish, naive little part of his heart spoke the next words out of his mouth.
"We are family Alexei. We always have been."

Summary
Jaskier is captured by Nilfgaard and tortured for information about Geralt an Ciri, the twist though, is that Ciri has been arrested for stealing and is in the cell next to his. Nilfgaard is none the wiser and Jaskier has to make sure that his mouth remains shut during the interrogations. Will he succed or will he break?

Summary
Taylor broke up with him a month ago and he hadn’t told anyone, not because it was a secret, but because he hadn’t gotten the chance to talk to them. It reminded him so strongly of the time after the bombing that he wanted to cry. How easily forgettable he was.
Apparently punchable, as well. He’d been punched before; it came with the job as a bartender or when he tried out for Navy SEALS. Even his dad had gotten in a few good ones when he disobeyed to get their attention. None of the people who punched him mattered. Not like Chimney did. His brother, someone he loved.
But maybe Buck’s love just wasn’t enough. Not to stop people from leaving or from wanting him gone.OR: Buck is badly hurt when the flor of a building caves in. Eddie talks to him through dispatch and Chim finally apologies.

Summary
When Eddie told Buck that he would become Chris’s legal guardian if something happened to him, they’d both assumed that it was just as a precaution.
Eddie is called in to a short military mission, Buck steps into his role as Chris's guardian. It was only supposed to be two weeks and Eddie's assignment was only to identify a person on sight. It shouldn't have been dangerous. Eddie should have been okay.
So why did a uniformed officer show up with a box and a flag on Eddie's doorstep?

Summary
“Watch it Buckley!” Buck sighed and tried not to react to the shove when he closed his locker and followed Smith and Anderson out of the room, trying not to let the emptiness grow inside of him. It was hard though, standing alone against the darkness in his chest. It had always been there, ever since childhood. Having uncaring parents will do that to you. But ever since the ladder truck, the tsunami and then, the lawsuit, it had grown so much stronger. Threatening to swallow him whole. The bomb would have been enough but then he had to lose Chris, and even though Eddie tried to tell him that it wasn’t his fault, he still lost him. He lost his family, and he lost his job. And what did he do to make things better? He sued the city and Bobby. He’d been desperate for sure, but in hindsight it would have been better to just lose his job instead of losing everything.
Summary: Post- lawsuit, Buck get's hurt by two new team members.

Yuna slides a folder on the table closer, pulling out two packets of paper. She’d gone all out with the contracts. Mainly, Shane suspected, to ease his nerves about the lines of the relationship. Plus, she was always nothing if not prepared.
She hands one contract to Shane, then another to Rozanov. “As a reminder, this is not legally binding. If either of you wants out early, can’t meet obligations, or wants to change things down the line, that is perfectly fine, and we can work with that. This just lays out the exact timeline of the relationship,” she begins, “down to the start and end dates."

Ilya had thought it was dumb, when Galina suggested it. A code word for when his mental health was bad—he and Shane didn’t even have a code word for sex, and Ilya was regularly tying Shane to the bed and slapping his ass until it was as red as a tomato.
“Is there a reason you’re calling me?” Shane asks now, voice echoey over the phone. “Or is this part of your strategy to win our argument?”
Ilya swallows hard. “Constantinople,” he says.

Shane Hollander is a UFA on July 1, 2019 at 12pm Eastern. An Unrestricted Free Agent, or UFA for short, is a player of a certain tenure whose contract has ended and can sign with any team of their choosing. If it were anyone else, a player walking to his UFA day would strike fear into the fans and managers hearts. They could lose a player for nothing.
On the morning of July 1, 2019, with Shane Hollander set to test free agency, the Montreal Metros and their fanbase aren't worried. It's well documented that Shane Hollander has always held out for the best deal, and being a free agent is his leverage. Everyone knows that he’ll sign another deal with the Metros.
But maybe everyone is wrong.
(Alternatively: the one where Shane Hollander finds out ahead of schedule that Ilya Rozanov is lonely.)

That’s what made Shane freeze, because if he was quiet and small then he could escape.
Escape what? Ilya? They’re hockey players, they’re loud and rough and brash, it’s normal for them. It’s practically a love language they’ve been learning for over a decade. They barely argue either, nothing real, nothing concrete that isn’t just a softer version of chirping. The only time it’s been real lately was -
Oh, he thinks as he grips the countertop so tightly his knuckles are bone white, I did this.

Or, after the Boxing Day fight and the almost plane crash, Shane and Ilya are finally together again. It takes two weeks for everything they've built to nearly break.
