Dick’s cheek smashed against the sharp gravel, Slade’s body pinning him to the ground. “That was hardly a fight at all, kid,” Slade murmured in his ear before he pulled off of Dick, replacing his body weight by slamming his knee on the small of Dick’s spine and keeping it there. “I’m disappointed, honestly. You trying to lose?”
Dick’s fingers spasmed and curled into the gravel in silence, and then, slowly, Slade shifted. Removed his knee. Slade gave a rough, startled laugh as he made the realization, and Dick heard him sit back, then stand.
“You were,” Slade murmured, sounding almost delighted. Or — at least, as close as a man like that could get.
Dick rolled over and pulled himself up, brushing the debris from his face and his clothes, heart jackhammering as he stared Slade in the eye. Dick swallowed hard.
“I have a deal for you.”
Slade huffed, like that was quaint, the corner of his lip upturning. “...A deal?”
“A deal," Dick said quietly. "One year."

Dream and Tubbo have had a short, difficult life. With a good-for nothing Dad, absent mothers, and a useless village around them, Dream takes it upon himself to finally take his little brother Tubbo away from their father in hopes of starting a new life.
Before he can do that, however, he has to survive a long, perilous journey to the next Village over, preferably with all his and his brothers limbs intact. And Dream about 80% sure he can handle it! Really, he is!
Unfortunately for him, there are many things along the journey that reduce these chances gravely.Add in some constant anxiety, some traumatic memories, a martyr complex, and constant vigilance to keep Tubbo alive long enough to see another day, and Dream has his hands full.
a.k.a, I wanted to write a fluffy 'Dream but he's actually in a Modern AU where he's the best damn babysitter on the planet' story, but my brain couldn't slow down, and I ended up with a possible multi-fic series about Dream just trying to take care of his little brother while the world gives him a hard time with the exception of, like four yet-to-be introduced people. This, dear reader, is an introduction to said series.

Being stuck and tortured endlessly in prison for 3 (or was it 4?) months did have a toll on a human being. Dream was no exception. But it’s not like there’s anything he could do.
So after trying to revive Wilbur, he expected to see Ghostbur gone.
He didn’t expect to wake up in a different world where the Dream SMP was just roleplay for fans.
And in his place was another Dream who didn’t expect to see his own server come to life.
