“And . . . I care about you, Anakin,” Mace finishes softly, interrupting Anakin’s thoughts. Tears spring to Anakin’s eyes before he can stop them, his words digging closer to Anakin’s emotions now, and he wishes to hide them in embarrassment, but then Mace raises a hand and cradles Anakin’s cheek with it, warm and firm and comforting. It makes Anakin look up despite himself, look into those deep eyes that always keep him grounded in a universe that makes him feel like he’s constantly floating away, eyes that always see right through him.
“Oh,” is all Anakin says, voice so soft and fragile, blinking back tears as he melts a bit into Mace’s touch.
(Or, Anakin works through some of his emotions with Mace's help.)

The first thing he notices, or rather person, is Master Qui-Gon looking down at him with a worried expression. It takes a few seconds for Obi-Wan to register what’s out of place for this image.
“Master, you managed to project a body this time,” he observes and something about his voice doesn’t feel right, had it always been that high?
Qui-Gon’s expression doesn’t change much, but it slowly twists into one of confusion.
“Did I not have one before?” he says very slowly.

Occlus was used to agreeing to missions to help Acina for no other reason than Acina had asked. Even if the mission was tedious, it usually led to things that Occlus wanted.
In theory this was an easy mission. All they had to do was walk in and out. There were no threats, no traps, no monsters.
There was just a planet that wanted them to calm down and stay forever.
