At least the world outside of Konoha wasn't this cruel, or maybe it was and always will be. But Sasuke's world has always been Naruto after it all ended or maybe from before, so why would he care about anything else? But now his own world doesn't want him.
It is similar to the feeling of your own body not wanting an organ of yours, he thinks. The organ will try, again and again but at some point it will give up. And one day its existence will cease to exist. -

The world is familiar, but hollow-like a dream he keeps forgetting just before it ends. In silence, he searches for something unnamed, pulled by the ache of absence of a feeling he can't explain. Whatever he lost, it left a mark deeper than memory.

But Lan Zhan is unrelenting. He smiles at Wei Ying, soft and fond, and rubs little soothing circles against Wei Ying’s back with his thumb. “You’re not what, Wei Ying?”
Wei Ying whines, soft and sweet, and drops his gaze, unwilling to entertain this further. But Lan Zhan kisses his neck again, and strokes at his hair, still twisted up against the back of Wei Ying’s head, held in place by his fist.
“You’re not my omega?” he whispers, tightening his grasp on Wei Ying’s hair, directing Wei Ying to look up and meet his gaze in the mirror. “But you submit to me like you’re my omega.”

Wei Ying’s eyes widen in shock. He can feel his heart beating in his chest, frantic and rabbit-quick.
